Fetterman on Biden’s Israel Criticism: Hamas Is ‘Responsible for All’ Civilian Casualties, Israel Wants to ‘Minimize’ Them

On Friday’s broadcast of “CNN NewsNight,” Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) responded to President Joe Biden’s criticism of Israel’s military response to October 7 by stating that Hamas hides behind civilians. He further stated that Hamas is “responsible for all” the deaths of Palestinian civilians while Israel wants to “minimize” civilian deaths and the conflict would end if Hamas surrendered and he doesn’t know why more people aren’t talking about them surrendering.

I will have to agree with him when considering the Geneva Conventions, which attempt rational, moral threads to grasp during wars’ barbarity. For my Navy experience in pulverizing a major enemy base in Vietnam, I especially liked the obvious reading of Articles 28 and 29 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. The VC were responsible for any civilian deaths in the base we shelled. Those civilians qualified as Protected Persons within the enemy’s physical control and could not be used to render certain points and areas immune from military operations.

Well, Oz would be a Republican who would want to court the approval of the dominant press. Fetterman, apparently, is a Democrat with his own mind.. I would prefer the latter.
