Reminds me of the juries in ancient Greece. Often up to a thousand on the jury. When they found a man guilty they divided the fines up between themselves, so they always found the rich Guilty!

The fine is so large he might not be able to appeal within the NYS system which requires appellants to put up a bond for the full amount, especially since his holdings are being artificially devalued.

They didn’t. The judge declared summary judgement while facts were still in dispute.
