Yea, this report is horrific. It concluded that there is clear and convincing information that sexual violence, including rape, sexualized torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment has been commited againat hostages, and that echoes of course what Israel has been saying happened by Hamas militants on Oct the 7th in Israel. But the report also concludes this, that there are, quote, reasonable grounds to believe that such violence may be ongoing to those hostages in Gaza right now. Israel certainly believes that to be the case, and Israeli officials believe that that maybe one of the reasons why Hamas is resisting releasing some of the hostages.

Its amazing it took anyone this long to figure this out. Its been obvious since October.

Well Hamas got themselves quite a conundrum don’t they? If they release the hostages, the hostages will talk about their torture and rape. So they can’t release them. If they don’t release them, then Israel keeps attacking until they find the hostages dead or alive - and kill and capture all the Hamas.
Hamas’ only option is to pray that international pressure will get Israel to agree to a cease fire. That only worked last time because they gave up some hostages. As of now, they won’t even provide a list of who is alive or dead. The US, Jordan, Israel and Egypt are providing humanitarian aid to minimize the complaints about civilian suffering and - for the American left - to try to shore up their far left voting base. Whatever the reason, getting aid to the civilians undermine’s Hamas’ claimed need for a cease fire. A few on the left also complained about the food drops but mostly because they know it undermine’s Hamas public relations cries. But getting trucks into Gaza is harder now than ever because of the stampedes. And what I have heard but cannot confirm is that a) Hamas also steals 20% of the aid and recently has been shooting at the civilians who try to take the Hamas rations and b) Hamas wants the aid not just for themselves but also to sell for a profit to their own people.
VP Harris called for a ceasefire, but at least she also conditioned it on Hamas releasing the hostages. Which is basically Israel’s position. So Hamas has to decide. Do they want some quiet during Ramadan?
