Joe has been rehearsing and practicing his 61 minute speech for 4 days now. He is reading and re-reading. He is being videotaped and reviewing the tape with consultants. Any area he has a problem they will re-write.
They have added in 5-10 special areas for emphasis to make him appear lucid, they are practicing those areas many times.
His “reading” will go just fine. He’ll have some mumbles, some mispronunciations, but all in all his practiced reading will go O.K..
He will be hailed as the greatest orator in the century and the media will claim we MUST put his age and cognitive issue away - that he proved how great he is, case closed.

Rehearsing a speech is only a minor help with his problem. He has short term memory loss so by the time he gets up to give the speech he will not have remembered all the rehearsals.
This may be the speech that ends it for good.
Two things that will sink him tonight:
1) if he doesn’t have a long afternoon nap
2) if the drugs they will pump him up with do not achieve their expected effect by 9 pm, or if the effect wears off with 20 minutes to go.
Remember, this is way past his normal bedtime. Lots of moving parts with dementia.
