US urged Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries(Biden fears higher gas prices will hurt his selection chances)

The US has urged Ukraine to halt attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, warning that the drone strikes risk driving up global oil prices and provoking retaliation, according to three people familiar with the discussions.

The repeated warnings from Washington were delivered to senior officials at Ukraine’s state security service, the SBU, and its military intelligence directorate, known as the GUR, the people told the Financial Times.

“Nothing terrifies a sitting American president more than a surge in pump prices during an election year,” said Bob McNally, president of consultancy Rapidan Energy and a former White House energy adviser.

What impact upon our gasoline retail prices does Ukrainian action against Russian oil refinery infrastructure have? A delayed one if any?

Sounds right out of the Bee, and ONLY a Neocon would tell Ukraine to keep watching 1000 of its people being killed every day, rather than trying to win the war...because the US election is what REALLY matters.

BiXiden promised some young woman whilst campaigning.

https://apnews.com/united-states-presidential-election-9dfb1e4c381043bab6fd0fa6dece3974

“Joe Biden is looking voters in the eye and promising to “end fossil fuel.”

The former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate made the comment Friday after a New Hampshire environmental activist challenged him for accepting donations from the co-founder of liquified natural gas firm.

Biden denied the donor’s association to the fossil fuel industry before calling the young woman “kiddo” and taking her hand. He said, “I want you to look at my eyes. I guarantee you. I guarantee you. We’re going to end fossil fuel.””

No one with an electric car has to worry about gas prices.
Just major long term power outages and a few battery fires.

But I think Biden is right about selling out Americans’ interests to help his personal election chances. The news update said “gas is up to XXXX and just two weeks ago it was 10 cents a gallon less.”

First pump price woes but then every bakery, beverage company, food seller and retail store delivery truck will cost more to run and pass that cost on to the consumer. Plus UPS and the Postal Service which run on gas.

Only items delivered by a kid on a skateboard or scooter to the stores will be safe from the price increase.

Inflation.

So. They really, really see Russia as a threat to the world, but don’t want one of the belligerents to attack any wells, refineries, or port utilities that might impact the production of its main source of hard income from the world?

But they want us to squander hundreds of billions of dollars, taking from Americans not even born yet, requiring us to pay interest on it?

I feel more resolved than ever not to send a single cent to Ukraine.

I often see people stealing electricity (from electrical outlets, and not paying for that) in order to charge up their EV.

Sullivan was in Ukraine last week strong arming Z to pass the mobilization (drafting 18-25 year olds) in order to keep Ukrainians punching and dying until 11/6/24. After Election Day, DC will pull a Kabul on Kiev.

In 2022 Russia was producing around ten million barrels of oil per day. I didn’t see any recent official numbers, but I have seen numbers as low as five million barrels per day. America is the largest producer at almost 13 million per day. But the way the market works, it’s like one huge pool and everyone’s oil goes into it. So if one producer cuts down the overall price goes up. However, one of the omnibus bills we all hate so much gave the president the power to unilaterally forbid American exports. This would give America a floor of about $70 per barrel and a floor in the rest of the world of probably $200 per barrel. If the president did this, it would screw the rest of the world and ultimately cause slower oil development in the US as the profits wouldn’t be there.

But the thing is, oil is paying for the Russia war in Ukraine. Ukraine, unbelievably, has Russian pipelines crossing their territory selling Russian energy to the West and they have done nothing to disrupt that flow. It could be done by turning off a valve. But it would hurt the people helping Ukraine, so politically, they can’t do it. But hitting the Russian oil fields will cause the Russian government to move anti-air assets from the battlefield to the oil fields. This is probably a “shaping” operation to force that move so Ukraine can use its new F-16’s over the battlefield.

Biden sees everything through a local political lens. Ukraine sees this as a survive or die situation.

Gasoline, like oil, is fungible on the global market. If Russia loses domestic supply of gasoline, they will have to buy it from someone else. They then are competing with other nations for existing supply of gas...prices on the world market will rise to meet that imbalance.

This will affect prices in the US because we are a major exporter of gasoline and other products refined from crude oil. Not from Russia buying US gasoline, but from other countries that have to buy more from the US because Russia will be buying from their normal sources.

Basically, any drop in supply, from any source globally, will affect prices everywhere.

I think Russia’s decisions to both smash the electrical production facilities, rather than the disto substations is more damaging than anyone expected. The US cannot replace the destruction to the production and since Putin waited for warmer weather it is not leather to the civilian population... the trains run on electric. The grid was essentially knocked out and some frontline areas will never have restored power until Russia pushes Ukraine back.

Additionally, Russa must have told Biden that two can play the missile on oil facilities game, and Iran is poised to do some damage.

Biden Admin is realizing that they are in serious trouble at and overseas. Putin probably offered not to destroy Middle East oil facilities using Iran.

It is more evident everyday the DNC gambit in Ukraine is over, and Ukrainian attacks on cities, as well as oil inside Russia is going to be out if control if any western oil platforms or oil refineries are blown up.

This very put of character for Democrats, liberals, Marxists to back off. There petty escalations in past three days in Russia have had their poker hand called.

Biden is finished.

Trump should pinky promise to let his tormentors walk away after the election, and then hunt them with a vengeance.

Yep. The Biden Junta realizes that Project Ukraine is kaput. They also realize that that squish Johnson is going to screw up the narrative of the pubbies losing Ukraine by ponying up the $61B. Nothing left to do but somehow replenish the cannon fodder and pray to Nuland that they’re not all killed off before Election Day.
