Both articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas were deemed unconstitutional by the Senate on Wednesday in a party-line vote. The first of two articles of impeachment alleged Mayorkas engaged in the "willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law" regarding the southern border in his capacity as DHS secretary. The second claimed Mayorkas had breached public trust.

In impeachment proceedings, the House of Representatives charges an official of the federal government by approving, by simple majority vote, articles of impeachment. After the House of Representatives sends its articles of impeachment to the Senate, the Senate sits as a High Court of Impeachment to consider evidence, hear witnesses, and vote to acquit or convict the impeached official

This easily handled. All house business is tabled immediately and stays tabled until Mayorkas is tried and convicted. Let’s see if the speaker has the “juevos” to do it. The house is in charge if they want to be.

Totally agree. I would table everything. I want to be Speaker. I'd do a damn good job. Most of these Federal Entities would be defunded.

This is a year that should bring a least 3 to 5 Senate seats to the Republicans.

Instead, these feckless tools will find a way to lose net 1.

The House is already gone.

Only Trump coattails can help the GOP but they’ll ruin that also.

Starting January 22, 2025 Trump will be impeached daily.

I live in TN and I’ll vote Trump but not for my Rep Mark Greene. He should have stuck to retiring but instead he changed his mind and then Fs us with warrantless FISA.

We truly are in a civil war.

A civil war takes place when two opposing sides in the same country are fighting ...

Only one side is fighting in this country ... and it aint our side.

Every election should have been good for Senate Republicans, but Mitch McConnell refused to support anyone who didn't pledge fealty to him.

Perhaps the good Citizens of America should send a copy of the Constitution to their representative if they voted to kill the Impeachment.

How can it be deemed "unconstitutional" by the Senate? It is in black and white in the Constitution. They are the tryers of fact. The Congress brings the articles of impeachment to the Senate and the Senate tries the case based on the articles to either convict or not convict.

The Democrats are blatantly ignoring the plain language and intent of the Constitution.

The singular and only role the Supreme Court has in impeachments is for the Chief Justice to preside over the Senate trial. That’s it.

It’s the same legal process as a pretrial motion to dismiss charges in a criminal case.
