Former Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) said Monday on CNN’s “OutFront” that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) had “backbone” for advancing foreign aid funding in separate bills, which did not include border security funding as many in his caucus preferred.
Buck said, “I think Mike Johnson’s on the right side of history. And I think that Republicans and Democrats will rally around someone who is showing leadership on Capitol Hill. It is a rare commodity on Capitol Hill. Mike has the backbone to move forward with very important and controversial legislation. The vote should be to vote for or against this package, not to vote for or against the speaker if you don’t like this package, that is not something that should be happening. I think Mike survives.”

You’re just going through the mechanics of what happened. We all know the mechanics. The real question is why are the democrats so staunchly against enforceable border control and what did Johnson learn that got him on board with selling out the country. It’s all so hush-hush. We’re not idiots out here.
Johnson should have been loudly announcing daily his support for Ukraine and Israel on the one condition he gets real border control in return. He should have been updating us on the Dems obstinacy and putting the pressure on the Dems to explain themselves. He should have never caved and if things went badly in Ukraine and Israel he should have placed all the blame at their feet for not fixing our border in return for getting foreign policy funding.
That’s what the base wants. Johnson did not deliver. We are owed an explanation His silence is maddening. Time to find a new speaker.
