Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) endorsed a Democratic mayor to replace him in his Senate seat, which Republicans see as the top pick-up opportunity for this year.
Manchin threw his support behind Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott (D) on Monday, saying in a video that Elliott posted on his X account that he is “proud” to support his candidacy because Elliott has “the determination, the vigor and vitality” to be successful as a senator.
“He’ll show up every day to fight for West Virginia, to create jobs, grow our economy and make a better life for our people,” Manchin said of Elliott. “Glenn will always fight for West Virginia and will put our country and our state before the bickering and pettiness of the partisan politics of Washington, D.C.”

A Wheeling native and graduate of The Linsly School, Elliott is a 1994 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a 2001 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. Elliott returned to Wheeling in 2009 after a career with Baker Botts LLP, an international law firm based in Washington, D.C.
Prior to being elected mayor, Elliott was active in economic development and downtown Wheeling revitalization projects, including Market Street Now LLC and efforts at renovating historic structures. Besides his work as an attorney, Elliott was also active in real estate and commercial/residential property management.
I knew it, he is a graduate of Linsly. Before 79, Linsly was a military school, then turned liberal progressive prep school
Wow! The Democrat might get 35% of the vote in November now, thanks to the ever-so-valuable Manchin endorsement!
National Democrats are likely to not even spend a dime trying to save this totally lost cause of a Senate seat. I understand that Joe has a ton of money in the bank though, but talk is a lot cheaper. And in this case, absolutely worthless.
He is a Democrat, so..... 🤓
Good riddance to the Fake Moderate .Manchin
