Arctic Sea Ice Extent April 23, 2024 is higher than it was on April 23, 1989
I know how they measure it - lighten up.
Your own words, to which I responded, contradict that claim.
The onus is on you: If you know how mean sea level is measured, prove it.
lighten up.
That's already on my list of "BS Words and Phrases", but thank you anyway.
Satellites measure from Earth’s center of mass - which is calculated from four surface points.
Here’s another opportunity to have no sense of humor:
The following is proof that a warm beer is better than a cold beer:
Given: Nothing is better than a cold beer.
Given: A warm beer is better than nothing.
Ergo: A warm beer is better than a cold beer.
Now, you have a choice:
A) expose the fallacy in my proof, and reveal that you have no sense of humor, or
B) lighten up.
The fallacy in your proof is called “equivocation”. You probably already know that, and you probably already know which word is being equivocated.
And “lighten up” is still on the list of “BS Words and Phrases”. And “BS” stands for “Barnyard Stuff”. It could also stand for “Boron Sulfide”, a chemical compound which cannot exist. I’m not using any form of profanity, vulgarity, or obscenity.
I suggest, for your consideration, that there exist a wide variety of "senses of humor". I suggest, for your consideration, that "Mr. Jones has a very different sense of humor from me" not the same thing as "Mr. Jones has no sense of humor".
Quick, Someone call Al Gore !
If Mr. Jones has a sense of humor, I’d suggest he’s very different from you.
Arctic Sea Ice has most definitely declined over the past 44 years since accurate satellite measurements began in Sept 1979.
BUT. NOT in the pretty simplified straight extrapolation that the Global Warming narrative requires.
Rather, there a very brief high period of 1979, 1980, 1981-1982.
THEN, a marked decline of 22 years from 1984 through 2006.
Since winter 2006 - 2007, for now 18 years, there Arctic Sea Ice extents have been steady. No longer decreasing, not statistically increasing either. NOT continuing Al Gore’s simple grade school straight line decline that the NSIDC displays.
No. Arctic Sea Ice extents (and Antarctic sea ice extents too) are measured continuously fron near-polar orbiting radar satellites. “Local Ocean Level” and the rougher, more irregular ice surface heights are measured, compared to an algorithm for assumed and measured thickness to estimate height of the ice surface. Sea Ice Area is assumed present if the difference is 90% consistently greater than 1.0 meter above local ocean surface. Sea Ice Extents is reported if the ice height is greater than the local ocean surface by 1 meter over at least 15% of the area. The results are totalled up and reported each day for 12 different regions - but not for fresh water like Lake Superior or Russia’s Lake Baiyal (-1 sp) .
(Sea Ice extents are always greater than Sea Ice area each day.)
Have a nice day.
