Speaker Mike Johnson: MTG’s Motion to Oust Me is ‘Wrong’
Breitbart ^ | 05/01/2024 | NICK GILBERTSON

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) criticized the motion to vacate that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is bringing against him next week in an effort to oust him from the Speaker’s office.

After Greene announced at a press conference Wednesday that she would move on her motion, Johnson—who has repeatedly broken the Hastert Rule and caved on Ukraine aid with no border funding—called the motion “wrong.”

“This motion is wrong for the Republican Conference, wrong for the institution, and wrong for the country,” he said, according to CNN Capitol Hill reporter Melanie Zanona.

Can you say “Speaker Jeffries”?...............................I knew you could!...................

Which is what we have right now, in practice, if not in fact.

No, it’s not wrong Mike. You knew what was expected of you when you took the job. Then you failed to reign in the democrats in any way shape or form. Are you being blackmailed? Because that’s the only other thing besides you being a traitor to the party that might explain your total surrender to the trillion $ spending addicts.

The democrats now love you and every conservative thinks you’re a liar and a sellout.
How dare you say it’s our fault when it’s completely yours.

FWIW, the legislation that passed that everyone is so upset about is here (Full text of passed “support” bill):

You can rationalize this cowardice all you want. The Republicans have to show that they will fight for America. Hell, the Dems impeached Trump twice and cooked up the Russia hoax. The Reps are afraid to shut down the government even over issues that the overwhelming majority of Americans agree with them about.

We have a slim majority in the House for two years and failed to use its leverage. Schumer has a 51-49 advantage in the Senate and governs like he has a mandate.

The Uniparty runs DC. We are being led by fools and knaves and that could prove fatal for the Republic. We add a trillion dollars to the national debt every hundred days. We have an out of control Administrative State that is unelected and unaccountable. They now have the technology to create an all-powerful surveillance state that threatens our civil liberties. Yet Johnson caves on the renewal of FISA. It reminds me of Snowden’s description of a “ turnkey tyranny.”

I don’t believe Johnson hates America. I believe the Rats either have something on him and are blackmailing him; or they waved several million under his nose and told him, “Play ball with us and there’s more where this came from...and if you won’t play ball, stay away from Ft. Marcy Park...or some combination of the two. In either case, we the taxpayers are skrewed!

The original border security bill, HR2 was already passed by the House.

Mucking up border security with foreign aid was originally Biden’s strategy - you don’t get that, do you? It figures.

And had Johnson continued to try to use this “leverage” you claim he had, a discharge petition would have been brought, passed, and we’d have the Senate bill as law. If Pubbies complained further about the border the Dem’s would just say (hell, in fact have said) the Pubbies (as a whole) weren’t even happy with the bill they agreed to.

OTOH, if Biden got desperate enough for the Ukie aid, and had reason to play the border issue even more than with the Senate bill, he could just acquiesce to the new House bill, voters concerned would be happy the border bill was finally law, and then Biden would fail to administer it, work with courts to delay or block it, delay it on his own behind the scenes, twist it... Basically it’s the Mayorkas playbook again, and by the time that was evident the election would be over, and Biden could just stick his tongue out at people like you.

The ONLY way the border is going to get “fixed” is for Trump to win the White House and have strong backing in the House and Senate. That’s the reality of it, and anything less is delusion (at best) on your part.

Johnson’s caves have only served to further divide a divided Party. The democrats LOVE it. Not surprised at all that democrats have stopped criticizing him.

Johnson would have been overridden with a discharge petition and then you have as law the Senate bill which is considerably worse (unless you are a Pooty tool.)

Johnson & the Pubs might then look better to you, but they sure as hell wouldn’t look better to most voters, probably not even most Republican voters.

Not a waste of time.
Johnson will have to rely on Democrats to keep his Speakership.
He will be exposed for who he is. A Speaker working for Democrats.

Your biggest delusion is that Johnson's actions have helped the Republicans and Trump this fall. Nothing could be further from the truth. Border security is the number one issue, and he should have insisted on the passing of HR2 by the Senate and Biden before any money for Ukraine. Of course that never would have happened. PERFECT, let the dems explain that for 6 months.

He took a divided party, and divided it even more!

Great strategy in an election year. As you can see on this site, there is more division now than there was when he took over. He has done great work for Biden and the democrats--which is why he will never be removed. Congrats.

He has absolutely no leverage now, and he ensured that there will be NO border security prior to next January at the earliest. Millions more illegal aliens guaranteed. Thanks Mike!

Was the House GOP clueless or trying to destroy the nation? Bear in mind that the Refugees are Palestinians. I don't remember Johnson mentioning:

migration and refugee assistance
For an additional amount for “Migration and Refugee Assistance”, $3,495,000,000, to remain available until expended, to address humanitarian needs of vulnerable populations and communities: Provided, That such amount is designated by the Congress as being for an emergency requirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(A)(i) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.

Yeah? But let’s get Trump elected first so he isn’t facing impeachment via Jeffries on day 1. Let’s be actually smart. Being smart is just as principled as ….being principled .

Johnson will have to rely on Democrats to keep his Speakership.

That may generate a two line story for the MSM and maybe convince a few Freepers that still supported him but it will change nothing.

In case you misunderstood my intention, I not only support the effort by MTG I wish she had done it as soon as his intensions were clear.

True, it will not change anything except expose him further.

Only the Dems read the bills, which are authored by special interests. Where were the Reps who opposed the bill? Why didn’t they read it and use it as ammunition to defeat it? Someone should ask MTG or Thomas Massie or Ted Cruz why they didn’t raise this issue?

Ted Cruz voted no in the senate. Cornyn voted yes. But Mike Johnson at least should have tried to remove the “Migration and Refugee Assistance” before endorsing this. It might have passed anyway with a “discharge petition” but AFAIK Mike Johnson did not even call attention to this. Maybe he didn’t know it was there, but if so it’s his fault.

If the motion succeeds and it delivers a better Speaker, I’m all for it. I’m just not sure that that’s going to happen. I hope MTG knows what she’s doing.

No one can even agree on what “better” means, much less who would be a better speaker. This is a stupid idea. The RINOs will just team up with the rats to get someone even further to the left.

You don’t know what Trump wants. What you fail to understand is that Trump is going to have to deal with whoever is Speaker yet he doesn’t get to decide who that is. The House does. So think for a moment what would happen if Trump started publicly attacking Johnson and demanding he be removed and then the removal effort failed. If you don’t think an angry, spiteful Johnson could inflict even more damage, perhaps even sabotaging Trump’s presidential bid, then you’re not thinking.
