South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), who has been under the microscope this week for an anecdote about killing her dog, defended her actions Wednesday, saying she shot the “dangerous” pup in order to protect her children.
“It was a dog that was extremely dangerous,” Noem said Wednesday on Fox News’s “Hannity.” “It had come to us from a family who had found her way too aggressive.”
“We were her second chance. And she was — the day she was put down was a day that she massacred livestock that were part of our neighbors,” she continued. “She attacked me. And it was a hard decision.”
Noem added that she had to make a choice between “keeping my small children and other people safe, or a dangerous animal, and I chose the safety of my children.”

Rural drop offs in Tennessee are quite common. The dogs end up at dumpster sites, where they get together with other drops, an alpha... form a little pack three or more and they’ll take out a calf no problemo, goats, sheep. Pigs? Sure. My sister deals with this, and now coyote’s are also an issue.
The hubster went night vision a few years back. I sent my nephews over to show him the ropes on that technology. It’s worked out better than farmhand plinking with the lever action.

As Dana Perino said last night on The Five, it's not that Noem had to put down a dog causing problems. It's that she made light of it in her book.
Noem laughs about it until she gets some blowback. And now the dog kills "livestock" and threatens children.
Don’t worry, noem fans... She is still attractive and has breasts, a decent ass and other lady parts. There is still a chance she can be VP.

I know that once the dog tastes blood, something needs to be done about the dog. I also know that you don't mess with an untrained dog when food or prey is involved.

She bragged about it because she believes it showed leadership.
Training the dog would’ve demonstrated a modicum of competency.

No Kristi Noem did that to herself. I’ll give her credit for telling exactly what happened but unfortunately she also explained that she knows nothing about hunting, hunting dogs or livestock in general. She also revealed she has a temper, lack of patience and not much empathy. So at least now we all know.
Shoot a dog in the head and brag about it and you are marked for life. Support the idjit that shoots the dog in the head and then brags about it and you're off my Christmas list. Noem's toast.
Let me add that, if a dog kills a neighbor’s chickens, the first question is, “Why is that dog loose?” That’s on Noem.
