Couric/Jeffords Lovefest (Katie Couric Interviews Jim Jeffords On Today Show)
Self | December 17, 2001 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 12/17/2001 5:00:41 AM PST by PJ-Comix

Did anybody else catch that Katie Couric/Jim Jeffords LOVEFEST on the Today Show just now? I say LOVEFEST because of the ADORING way Katie Couric was interviewing Jeffords. Not a frown (such as she displayed a few years ago when Rush mentioned how nice of a person George Bush was) in sight. From this interview, you would have thought that Jeffords was a man of deep principle. And, oh how Katie sympathized with him over how the "evil" Republicans wanted to cut funding to his pet project (a relatively minor one over which Jeffords changed the leadership of the Senate). Of course, Katie did what she could to promote Jeffords new book, "My Declaration of Independence."

Now, boys and girls, take out your looseleaf pads and take down notes because this WILL appear in your Bluebook Exam:

Imagine, if the Senator had been Zell Miller who, after Jeffords had tipped the Senate to the Demmycrats, tipped it back again to the Republicans by switching from Demmycrat to Republican. Do you think Katie would have such a look in adoration in her face with sympathetic questions or would she have a frown and be asking questions such as this:

"Senator Miller, how do you answer the charge that by being a turncoat to your own party, you have allowed the Senate to follow a Republican agenda which many feel supports a nawrrow rightwing agenda?"

Let's face it, no lovefest for Senator Miller if he ever does switch parties (and switches Senate leadership back to the Repbulicans).

Am I being unfair to the $100 million dollar woman? Well, I'll tell you what. I challenge NBC to show me tapes of Katie Couric interviews with political leaders. They can turn the sound off and blot out the pictures of the interviewees as well as anything else identifying them and I can still determine if the interviewees are conservative or liberal simply by looking at Katie's face and seeing whether she has a look of absolute adoration (such as for Jim Jeffords) or a skeptical frown (such as when she interviews any "evil rightwing" conservative).

So, NBC, if Katie Couric isn't biased, you would be more than happy to prove me wrong but somehow I don't think you will take me up on this challenge.

Anybody else see this LOVEFEST of an interview? Perhaps even without NBC's help we could prove the obvious bias of Katie Couric. Is there anyway to get tapes of other Couric interviews, mute the sound, and blot out the interviewee? Not only could I identify whether the interviewee is liberal, but I bet most of you out there could do the same. BTW, this would make a really KEWL media project.

The interview was repulsive. Not a good thing over breakfast.

But didn't you like that that look of LOVE in Katie's eyes? She was really oogling over Jeffords. After all, it was Jeffords who "rescued" the Senate from the "evil" Republicans by switching and delivering it to the Demmycrats. For this act alone, Jeffords has earned Katie's eternal adoration. And you could sure see that absolutely adoring look in her eyes (to be replaced by daggers of anger if Zell Miller ever switches to Republican and is interviewed by Katie).

BTW, what do you think of my Katie Couric challenge wherein I can determine the political leanings of the interviewee even if the sound is muted and the interviewees face is blotted out?

It's not just Katie -- last night's "60 Minutes" had a 15 minute, Mike Wallace-narrated commercial for Jeffords' book. He left the GOP "on principle." Uh-huh.

Yes, but Mike Wallace (much as he tries) just can't work up that look of ABSOLUTE ADORATION that Katie gets in her eyes. That is why taking the Katie Couric Challenge would be such a piece of cake. With the sound turned down and the interviewee blotted out, I can easily determine whether the interviewee is a liberal or conservative simply by observing whether Katie has an adoring glow or a skeptical frown on her face.

Couric, Jeffords? Their combined IQs could just about melt an ice cube.

Jeffords definitely seems to be a dimbulb. He reminds me of a few people I've known who don't have much upstairs but try to appear knowledgeable by striking the "right" poses and attitudes. One guy I knew like this had a computer consulting firm and in his office (which was also his entire one-man company) the shelves were filled with copies of ONE book, "Missile Envy," and he had ferns growing everywhere and and Bach music constantly playing. Now I ask you, what kind of DOPE would have copies of ONE book all over his shelves if not to impress visitors about his "correct" attitude? Oh, and once I questioned him about some of the simplest things in history, he showed not the SLIGHTEST bit of knowledge (he never even heard of the Nazi-Soviet Pact of 1939). Like Jeffords, this guy's "knowledge" was all an act. He POSED as if he were knowledeable.

Did not see the Couric caress but did see glimpses of a Jeffords puff piece on 60 Minutes last night. When two (2) separate puff pieces get done on a pol in a 24 hour period, one has to ask "Why?" I think 60 Minutes, as a card-carrying member of the DNC, along with a DNC founder - NBC -are doing puff pieces on Jeffords so that he gets another few minutes in the lime light as a make up for the legislative slap that the Dems gave him on his special ed legislation. The media and the other Dems do not want him to bolt back (sadly, the Pubs would probably take him back.)

Bush is going to have to take control of the agenda by publicly and repeatedly calling on the Dems to release the Bush appointees and get to work. The economic stimulus package is best relegated to a slow death as a hostage to Daschle and the Dems. Anything done now is too late and will be governmental-centric. It is better to have its death as yet another victim in the war on terrorism - this one done by the Democrat Taliban.

Perhaps this will induce Zell Miller to switch to the Republicans. However, a warning to Senator Miller: If you do switch, don't expect that look of adoration in Katie Couric's eyes when she interviews you. Better wear a psychic shield to ward off the flying daggers of anger emanating from the eyes of the $100 Million Woman.

Katie Couric serves the same purpose for NBC.. as Bill Maher does for ABC. They are the standard bearers for their networks. When they exibit bias...they are merely speaking on behalf of their respective networks. Yet they claim to be puzzled as to why viewers are leaving in droves.

Do you think you are qualified enough to take the Katie Couric Challenge? It isn't easy. You must have a brain capacity slightly larger than a snail. If you think you can qualify, perhaps I shall place you on the Katie Couric Challenge Panel. We will show you tapes of Katie's interviews with various political figures. The sound will be muted and the image of the interviewee will be blotted out. You will then have to determine if the guest is a liberal or a conservative simply by analyzing the look on Katie's face. But, remember, you MUST be slightly more intelligent than a snail to qualify for placement on the panel.

To help Jeffords sell his stupid book. And to bash Republicans. A "twofer", if you will.

Long ago before I joined FR I think there was a "Katie Couric Veil of mourning" going around here. Basically, a video overlay so that you wouldn't have to see her tears when Republicans won. Yeah, I saw part of the interview but it was so disgusting I gave up after a few minutes.

Good idea, PJ-Comix. I bet a person could tell 90% of the time what political party the subject belongs to just by how the liberal media are asking the questions.

I wonder what would happen if President Bush got ALL of his appointees in via recess appointments? Wouldn't that raise a ruckus!!

With Katie Couric it would be 100% of the time. And I wouldn't even need to hear the questions. I just need to see the look on Katie's face to know if the guest she is interviewing is a liberal (look of adoration) or conservative (skeptical frown or worse).
