Did I understand the prescription drug woman at the Democrat debate mention in passing that she was on the Pfizer drug assistance program which cut her costs from $484 to $51/month? Then the Democrat candidates took off on the drug companies as the cause for high drug costs with her nodding in total agreement? Did I hear it right?

You did. The Welfare State is a monopoly, just like OPEC. If Pfizer can deliver social assistance more efficiently and less expensively than the US Government, then that monopoly comes under fire from superior competition.
The exchange you mentioned, IMHO, was one of the best philosophical moments in the entire affair. If Pfizer really can look after indigent patients better than Washington, DC, than even voters who have a generally positive opinion of Howard Dean, would come to believe he serves the country better as a doctor in Vermont than as a spoilsman in DC.
