The producer told Matt "we're going to finish him off..."

Hate to burst your little bubble, but most people in the country have a very low opinion of alcoholics and junkies and even a lower opinion of privileged celebrity junkies. No one has to push Rush over the cliff, he jumped all by himself.

I think he was talking about drugs like cocaine, crack, heroin and ecstasy. I think there is a difference, just like there is a difference between Arnold Schwarzenegger's gropes and Klintoon's ice-on-thats.

No, what Rush has done is become addicted to highly addictive medication prescribed by his doctor to help him tolerate pain in his back and neck. What he has done is confess to us that he is addicted to the prescribed medication, and asked us to pray for him to overcome the addiction. Are you going to do that, or are you going to aid and abet our friends on the left by joining them in sitting in judgment against him, and condemning conservatism for something Rush has rightly taken total responsibility for doing to himself?

Please don't fall for the moral equivalency tactic used by defenders of Clinton's debauchery. I must have missed Rush's claim to righteousness. I've only ever heard him say he is right 98%, or so, of the time in his analysis of the issues. The only way he can cheapen his values and make a mockery of what he believe in is to lie about his human failings,and feign repentance for behavior he has no intentions of changing. He can do nothing to cheapen my values or yours.

If this revelation is what has brought Rush to the realization that he must take the steps necessary to end his addiction, then I thank God that it happened. Some of us have had Rush in our prayers for a long time. Perhaps it is the providence of God that he is finally seeking help with a problem that could have done far more harm to him than any assault by the Left. The apostle Paul told the Romans "all things work together for good to those who love the Lord". Good will come of this.

The only way the Left can succeed in destroying Rush, or conservatism, is if conservatives allow them to do it.

I'd say going deaf is pretty severe punishment, if it is related to his use of pills.

And further illustrates the correctness of the conservative anti drug position.

Which democratic figure has EVER taken responsibility for any of their shortcomings?

The statement by Rush also further illustrates the difference between the conservative and liberal positions.

One is honest and forthright while the other is dishonest and conniving.

Which one of the very troubled liberals would ever say anything remotely like :

Take responsibility, assert he is not a victim, and ask for prayers?

You're so right about that.

But I have a different take on this--Rush got addicted because of a genuine medical condition--painkillers originally prescribed by a doctor. This isn't like recreational drug use.

I agree with the person that said that we live in a pretty much pill-happy society.

Not knocking doctors (I'm in the medical profession myself) but some do prescribe these things and when patients get addicted, they leave them out to dry.

If when it first occurred he had come forth and explained how he got addicted topain killers through no fault of his own and said he was taking time off for rehab that would have been great.

But he was outed by the NE so his admitting it now is NOT a sign of honesty etc etc.

I wish it wasn't true because it just gives the left something else to beat on the conservatives over and RUSH made it worse by not coming out in the beginning
