Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma joined "The Story" Thursday night...but refused to say whether hospitals across the country were properly equipped to handle the outbreak...After her fourth attempt, MacCallum seemed to put the issue aside. "That's not a direct answer to the question," she said, "but it sounds like a hope that there won't be enough sick people and we won't run out of ventilators because we have mitigated, and we certainly hope -- we certainly hope that is the case."

The Trump reelection campaign on Thursday mocked Joe Biden’s plan to combat coronavirus, accusing the Democratic presidential candidate of "plagiarizing" President Trump's plan. Beyond the attack essentially stating that Biden is offering nothing new, it was also a not-so-subtle-evocation of Biden’s failed 1988 presidential campaign, which was derailed in part due to allegations of plagiarism. “Joe Biden's coronavirus remarks today sounded awfully familiar,” rapid response director Andrew Clark said in a press statement. “Listening to him, we felt a sense of déjà vu. Here’s why: Biden blatantly ripped off President Trump, and bizarrely called on him to do things he...

Xi Jinping and his Communist cronies should celebrate Joe Biden’s recent turnaround at the ballot box, maybe with a (masked) ball. Joe and Hunter Biden embody the globalism that empowered a China bent on surpassing the United States. Start with Hunter’s shenanigans. In 2017, the illustrious vice-presidential son was granted what Chinese commentators described as a Xianchai, a sinecure reserved for offspring of important officials, at BHR Partners. BHR is a $20 billion fund with shareholders that include China Life, China Development Bank and other state-owned entities. China’s State Council calls on BHR to find deals abroad by hiring foreigners...

Former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove slammed Joe Biden on "Hannity" Thursday for sending out an email warning Americans about coronavirus and soliciting donations for his presidential campaign. Hannity noted that Biden had joined fellow Democrats in criticizing President Trump during the early onset of the virus outbreak after the incumbent ordered strict border security measures, which Biden's primary opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., called "xenophobic." Hannity called Biden "sick" and asked Rove to react.

MSNBC host Joy Reid appeared bewildered over reports that the proposed emergency spending bill from House Democrats to combat the coronavirus outbreak was halted over a dispute involving "abortion." According to White House officials, the administration had not supported the House bill as it was drafted. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin continues to work with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. on changing some language. One senior administration official said described it as "serious concerns." Among issues cited: Medicaid increases with no structural reform, no Hyde protections, and PREP act language.

March 13 2020 Friday of the Second Week of Lent Reading 1 Gn 37:3-4, 12-13a, 17b-28a Israel loved Joseph best of all his sons, for he was the child of his old age; and he had made him a long tunic. When his brothers saw that their father loved him best of all his sons, they hated him so much that they would not even greet him.One day, when his brothers had gone to pasture their father’s flocks at Shechem, Israel said to Joseph, “Your brothers, you know, are tending our flocks at Shechem. Get ready; I will send...

Amid the first signs that the novel coronavirus was spreading in the Seattle area, a senior officer at the University of Washington Medical Center sent an urgent note to staffers. “We are currently exceptionally full and are experiencing some challenges with staffing,” Tom Staiger, UW Medical Center’s medical director, wrote on Feb. 29. He asked hospital staff to “expedite appropriate discharges asap,” reflecting the need for more beds. That same day, health officials announced King County’s — and the nation’s — first death from the coronavirus. Now as cases of virus-stricken patients suffering from COVID-19 multiply, government and hospital officials...

Yesterday the World Health Organization officially declared Covid-19 a pandemic (like we didn’t already know this.) As well, President Trump addressed the nation, closing American borders to all flights from Europe and announcing some ways he intends to help the people of the United States financially. In unofficial terms, this is sh#t getting real. Things are going to get worse – possibly much worse – before they get better. Illness completely aside, this will cause financial problems that many folks will feel for years after the pandemic is over. The biggest question people are asking now is, “When?” When will...

Mild symptoms, a very weak runny nose, a slight fever, no headache, no cough, and very mild and isolated muscle aches. I work as a shuttle driver at the DFW airport. My two possible exposures could be a group of 14 elderly Japanese tourists returning from Costa Rica two weeks ago and staying the night before their departure back to Japan or an American caucasian couple in their 60's and live in the DFW area and had a 40 day cruise in the South Pacific and stated about 1/3 of the passengers were Chinese and that was last friday.

...True liberals are leaving the authoritarian left in droves. We are witnessing a movement in real time of people who used to consider themselves to be part of the left leaving it and becoming politically homeless. They have varying reasons for this, but it’s primarily because the authoritarian left has lost the plot. Many in the #WalkAway movement leaving the left find themselves politically homeless because they don’t see our side as any better. Focusing on pragmatic populism only works for a little while, then many start questioning where we are going. This is why we need to have a...

This post is a heads up. There are investments called ETNs (exchange traded notes) which are sort of like mutual funds, but are listed like stocks. UBS has listed many of these. Well, down in the details of the prospectus that no one reads is a clause that if the value of the security goes below $5, they get liquidated. Due to the stock market correction, there are several close to being liquidated, and UBS has announced one issue, MLPQ, is being liquidated. I wrote this because if people are searching around for good deals, these look great. They aren't....
