The Hilton Anatole hotel in Dallas has been there before. That’s where Alex Rodriguez accepted $250 million of then-Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks’s misspent money, once upon a time. Hicks had a club three-to-thirteen-deep in pitching woes, and he decided the most surefire way of plugging up the leaking runs was to commit the near-equivalent of a solid pitching staff to . . . a shortstop. That was then, this is now. The Los Angeles Angels aren’t exactly trying to plug leaks by committing to a first baseman. But they didn’t exactly leave southern California dry by committing ten years...

Yes, I said support for Glenn Beck, it’s simple, if you go to an event you support it. Period. Am I wrong?

WASHINGTON -- Albert Pujols spoke only briefly at the "Restoring Honor" rally on Saturday, where he was presented with the Hope Award for his actions and contributions off the baseball field. However, the slugger was happy to talk at length afterward about his decision to participate in the event.

With St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols hitting his 400th career homer and Alex Rodriguez having recently reached the 600-homer mark, now is a great time for a guy who served up a homer to each slugger to compare and contrast the two future Hall of Famers:

Gross! Oprah's "O" Magazine picks "The Real Sexiest Men Alive" ("Real" is underlined in the mag) in its October 2006 issue. And all we can say is: BLECHHHHHHH! Among her top 16 of allegedly "sexiest" men alive are far-left moonbat-in-chief blogger Markos Moulitsas Zuniga. Eeeuuuuwwww. What is sexy about him? Conspiracy theorists are sexy? Who knew? It's easy to understand the media's love-fest with Albert Pujols. The St. Louis Cardinals slugger crushes baseballs into the outer realms. And more important in the wake of the BALCO fiasco, he has yet to be tainted by evidence of steroid use. Pujols has 25 homers in 51 games played, putting him on pace to break Barry Bonds' record of 73 home runs in a single season. Both fans and rival players breathlessly praise Pujols as they once did Bonds. St. Louis' marketing department is constantly churning with new ideas for milking the Albert cash cow. And within baseball's press...

How would you like to be Albert Pujols right now? I'm not talking about his 22 homers in the Cardinals' first 44 games; anybody would like to be that Albert Pujols. I'm talking about all the suspicion swirling around baseball, all the doubt Prince Albert has to deal with. "I'm sick and tired of people saying it, that I'm not 26," he said after belting another one out of the park Sunday. "I know how old I am, and I know that I don't use any of those bad things people are talking about that I use." Our "national pastime"...

HOUSTON -- Albert Pujols simply was not ready to call it a season. Even after struggling through an ugly 0-for-4 on Monday night and leaving four runners on base, Pujols knew he needed just one more chance. One more at-bat, and he could turn around the game, the National League Championship Series and the Cardinals' season. He got the chance, and he did what great players do -- he seized it. Pujols obliterated a hanging slider from previously impenetrable Brad Lidge, depositing it 412 feet over the train tracks in left field at Minute Maid Park to give the Cardinals...

Synthetic urine, which sounds like something more likely to generate snickers than sales, is turning into a small success for a Kansas company. Dyna-Tek Industries, a company bought by Kevin Dyches and his wife, Sandra, five years ago, has developed synthetic urine for the research industry. One of their first customers is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (news - web sites), which made a big purchase this summer and has hinted it could be a major buyer long into the future. Other research institutions and laboratories are also looking into Dyna-Tek's product, called Surine. "We have been very...
