You can also halt the car and park and refuse to go anywhere until the kids are quiet. If they erupt again, park again. If you are going to do this, it helps to have a good book along with you. You can get a little reading in till the kids shut up if you can mentally shut out the noise.

"I don’t think Obama will “graciously” withdraw."

jOf course not. This enables him to covertly FU Catholics and Christians in general as well, while pretending to ignore the whole controversy. Besides, when do leftists "graciously" do anything? Never. They are always entitled to do whatever they please no matter who they hurt. Anyone who raises the least complaint to being harmed by a leftist is smeared by the press.

"...everyone needs to live in a great area with great schools..."

Right, and pretty soon those same schools aren't so great anymore. Same as with placing subsidized housing in middle class neighborhoods. Just spread the crime and chaos around. I have seen this happen in my own town.

"Sure some stay mired in their college liberalism but most get it out of their systems in college."

I don't really think that's true, anymore, if it was ever true. Leftism is reaching critical mass in parts of this country (probably already has, sadly), and that discourages growth after college. Truly dedicated, leftwing colleges do a bang-up, long-term job of indoctrinating those who entered with leftish sentiments, anyway.

In my 58 years, I have never seen a hard-left kid raised by anything but mushy liberal parents. I believe that there was a book quite awhile back, maybe authored by Midge Decter(?), titled Liberal Parents, Radical Children, something like that, and in general, I believe it. I remember my friends and relatives raised by the sort-of dingy, ‘lefter’ fringe of liberals, and nearly all turned out to be even ‘lefter’ than the folks (and often the angry variety, too, but not always). I do think that hard-left kids overwhelmingly spring from a certain variety of liberal home, sort of like Rachael Corrie’s folks, who let her go to a very dangerous part of the world and meddle in the politics by demonstrating, there. And who but committed liberals would pay what it costs to send their kids to such a school? Not being censorious here, just reporting what I have observed time and again over many years.

My three current pups and my cat are all shelter animals. That's the way to go for me from now on. Don't buy from a pet store, EVER, and, frankly, don't buy from a breeder, either.

Why not settle for a good approximation of the breed you want from a shelter? Shelters also have a lot of surprisingly excellent examples of purebreds there, too, mainly because a lot of people unwisely think they have plenty of time for a dog, spend big bucks for a purebred, and then find they are not patient enough, or available enough, or they have to move, or whatever, and turn in a lovely dog for someone else to adopt. Get on petfinder.com, put in your zip code, and see many wonderful pets in shelters in your area. I didn't use to think that shelters had 'good' dogs in them, but boy was I wrong! Try petfinder and see what I mean.

And many of the mixed breeds are very attractive, loving, and intelligent dogs. I confess, I used to be something of a 'purebreed snob', but I was wrong.

I was in our local shelter just today to take in some old blankets that they use for beds for the big dogs, and a loving couple were taking home a sweet Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix that was absolutely darling! They were so happy with their new pet! Help out a dog in need. Adopt from a shelter. You won't be sorry.

"I can’t imagine piercing the end of an egg without is breaking in my hand but he makes it sound so good I have to try it anyway."

I pierce eggs in this manner all the time in order to blow out the insides to use them for origami papered Easter eggs (though nowadays I also use ceramic eggs). It works fine. Once in a very great while you break one, but almost never. I use a bulletin board pin with a long sticker, like the plastic ones that come in colors or clear plastic. It works.

  • 10 Cars That Sank Detroit

    Irene Adler to Polybius
"The Chevy Vega ...... ..... was the car that made me promise myself I would never, ever, own an American car again. "

For me it was the Cavalier. Before that, when we were very poor, and Mr. Adler was not willing to buy a foreign car, we had a Chevette Oh, what awful cars both of them were.

This is a bit off topic because it concerns a dealer rather than the manufacturer, but when I was shopping for the Chevette, my older daughter was a baby. I was looking at a Chevette which, for some reason, had no backseat, just the front seat and a flat space behind the seat. The dealer told me I could just put the baby in the babyseat in the rear and drive around (how 'convenient' that would be, you see). I was absolutely appalled that anyone would advise someone else to drive with a helpless baby in a babyseat, completely loose, in the back of a vehicle.

This was way before all the regulations about (much better engineered) attached babyseats in cars, but I knew full well, that you didn't leave a babyseat loose; I did know enough to belt it in which was the only option at the time.

That one dealer was enough to put me off of General Motors cars forever, though we still did get the Cavalier, as our one, last Chevrolet, because Mr. Adler wouldn't consider a foreign car at the time. It still makes me angry when I think of it, that someone else would tell you to do that with your precious child, just to sell a cheap car.

"Luther wanted to fix the Catholic Church, not leave it. He only left when the Church refused to mend their ways."

Luther never left the Catholic Church. He never intended to, and he never did. He was excommunicated in 1521 by Pope Leo X.

I would bet that he does this kind of thing because his fans on the left (most specifically the women) have been polled, and they think it’s neat that he would take Michelle out rather than meet with diplomats. This is calculated like that famous dance on the beach we all enjoyed so much.

"We've lost the community," is such an understatment. I don't know what the preachers in this town preach - but the fruit of that tree is not pretty."

Joining a church and participating at least in its services and perhaps in its activities is a great way to make it very, very likely that members of the congregation keep track of your welfare, if you are handicapped or as you age. I know that this is very true in our church.

Our Pastor and our Christian Care Board, plus individual members of our congregation on their own, keep tabs on our elderly members. Our Pastor takes communion to homebound members on a weekly basis unless he has a very busy week scheduled. Members of our church bring handicapped and elderly members to church usually every week and also are available to drive people to the doctor or for shopping. And you don't need to have been perfectly faithful by any means to receive these services.

I wouldn't necessarily to blame the church(es)in this small town for this sad event. If this poor woman had indicated a need of any sort to a church, I would bet that she would have had help.

They understand just fine; they are taking this country apart so that they can pick up the pieces and reassemble them any way they want. As far as passing bills they haven’t read, however; they have been doing that for years. It’s pretty standard procedure. The (taxpayer financed) staff people are supposed to read the bills, but I am not sure they do, either.
