Newt’s supporters love him for the exact same reason his detractors hate him: because he is such a fighter. It drives them nuts that he doesn’t throw in the towel, doesn’t slither away from difficult situations and, like a bulldog with a bone, just chomps down harder when the going gets tough. Like a bulldog, he continues to hang on against a much better-financed rival, because he thinks content is more important than suavité, what you are today is more important than mistakes you made 20 years ago and being right is even more important than being president.

The Girl Scouts’ sleazy tango with baby-killer Planned Parenthood and its ilk has been going on for years, but its outreach to the gender-confused reached a new low with the admission of 7-year-old Coloradan Bobby Montoya, whose mother forced his acceptance by claiming he was a girl born in the wrong body. Fifty years ago he would have been placed with relatives while she was in the hospital for observation.

Life goes on, and so does the pillaging of the dictionary by the enemies of free speech. If you can't shut people up, the logic seems to go, the next best thing is not to let what they say signify anything. "Tolerance" has come to mean forced acceptance, "rights" to mean special privileges for those with highly paid lobbyists, and "freedom" to mean the freedom to oppress others. "Judgment Day, May 21, 2011. The Bible guarantees it!" proclaims the homepage of evangelist Harold Camping's website FamilyRadio.com. Is he serious? Yes, according to the website, but that's only half the story, because now: "Janice Wisner from State College, Pennsylvania, is challenging founder Harold Camping to put his money where his mouth is and deed his home (or homes as may be the case) to her. She promises not to move in until May 22nd this year."

Although no text of the "treaty between nations" is findable online as of this writing, the few sources currently available indicate the treaty mainly concerns cooperation in the film industry (I thought movies were haram). That doesn't matter, though, because the point is not the harmlessness of the subject matter but the identity of the signers.

Because I'm not a member of his church, perhaps I shouldn't let it bother me that the archbishop has taken it upon himself to proclaim that the Bible is wrong and the Jewish people are no longer chosen by God, especially since my Bible doesn't say anything of the kind. But it does bother me. It bothers me because it is a blatant contradiction of at least a dozen perfectly clear verses in the Holy Scripture, which the Catholic Church - both Greek and Roman - claims to uphold as the Word of God. Since then the list of online signatories has escalated into the hundreds.
