  • WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH OKLAHOMA?

Yes, it’s idiotic, but I don’t blame Oklahoma per se. Every so-called “institution of higher learning” seems pretty crazy-woke and has been for the past 50 years. This is why the last two generations have been so messed up morally and politically.

  • Is God Unable to Lie Because of Weakness, Imperfection, or Lack of Omnipotence?

I hear what you are saying, and though I agree that no human being can fully comprehend all who and what God is, He is the source of rationality, logic, and reason. He also imparted that ability to His human creation. Of course He often defies logic and reason for His purposes, but for the most part, He has revealed Himself to us in Scripture in rational ways, perceptible ways, and in language we can comprehend. He has revealed, in Scripture that His character exhibits the following traits:

    1. Hebrews 6:17-18. People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

    2. Titus 1:1-2. Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

    3. Numbers 23:19. God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

    4. I Samuel 15:29. He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”

    5. Isaiah 1:18. “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

My point is that God uses rationality to reveal Himself - you expressed your view using a reasoned argument. So, it appears from Scripture God has limited Himself because of His character, His nature. So, I would not say God is beyond rationality, but that there are certain attributes of God that are beyond complete human comprehension. Does that make sense? By the way, hope you and you’re family are well and safe.

I agree with you that she’s no different that the rest, but the beauty of it is that she wouldn’t have to go through the primary debates - she’d be running on Barack’s charisma.

You’re also correct that she doesn’t have the polish of her husband. I doubt they would let her ever debate Trump. And, Trump would have to use kid gloves.

I’m not saying she would beat Trump, just that her candidacy, if it happened, would unify and energy the Dems.

He’d be in there somewhere - which is what he would love - calling the shots behind the scenes. If Trump criticizes her for anything, can you imagine the outrage? She would be unassailable. A woman and a black woman at that.

The only one even more fearful of this is Hillary.

I want what you posted from Rex to be true. I think all sane Americans do. I believe President Trump is a good man and has accomplished what has pretty much on his own.

But, one man, even a great man like Trump, cannot do it all on his own. He needs our continued prayers and support.

I do agree that we do not know all that is going on behind the scenes. I also believe that if Trump and the Republican Senate continues to nominate and confirm more and more judges, that years down the road, that may be his biggest accomplishment to helping to move the country towards it Constitutional roots.

This is insanity. I see no difference between an unfeeling government bureaucrat and an unfeeling private sector bureaucrat. I don’t want government run healthcare either.

Something that could be done but which neither party seems willing to do is allow across state line medical insurance. The fact that that isn’t allowed shows that Congress is completely in the pocket of insurance companies.

re: “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church…”(Col 1:24)

With all due respect to Fr. Stephen Freeman - although admittedly, there is much speculation about the exact meaning of the passage above, if it means that Christ’s atonement was not sufficient without the church, then what do the previous verses mean(Colossians 1:21-23)?

“21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.”

Paul is clear in the above verses “He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” If verse 24 means what the Friar means, then verses 21-23 make no sense.

re: 2015 Montana Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which aimed to give residents “choice in education” by providing a tax-credit of up to $150 for contributions that fund privately-run scholarship programs.

If the money is being use for a “privately-run scholarship program” then what does it matter if the school is sectarian or secular?

Having said that, anytime a religious organization accepts any type of federal funding, they become open to every federal spending guideline that comes along. It sucks but I think the safest thing to do is not accept any type of federal or state funding.

Very insightful response nathanbedford. The destruction of the family which began with the “free love” movement in the 60’s and the abortion movement, the loosening of divorce laws have brought us the “single parent” family as the norm in society today.

This affects schools as many want the schools to be surrogate parents, it affects the economic situation of the lower middle class and the poor by aggravating their situation thus promoting more government “solutions”.

The further western society moves away from Judeo-Christian values the more pagan, the more callus, the more seared peoples conscience become. No big secret but your post reminded me of its truth.

We can no longer view a TV program or movie without LGTB, etc being promoted as normal and healthy. I read an article the other day where kids as young as 7 and 8 are becoming addicted to pornography because of their exposure to it through smart phones, cable shows, and obviously the internet. God help us.

Read through the article. Has some interesting points, but as it went along, I began to realize that if this article is completely accurate, then how can I even comment on the article, since all personal perception is totally biased?

In fact, those who wrote the article itself are also completely doused in their own reality and self perception - so, it the article really accurate or not? According to the article, we can’t really know.

This is like materialist atheists, like Richard Dawkins, who say there is nothing beyond what we can detect with our five senses, just the cold indifferent universe, we act only according to our DNA, we merely dance to our DNA - there is no evil or good.

Yet Dawkins and other materialistic atheists claim all religion, God, and Believers are immoral and evil.

Absolutely correct. It only has meaning to working or retired Americans.

The naysayers can go work a 12 hour shift on Monday if they feel Idolent..

I don’t like unions today but I do think they made things better in the early 20th century. Anything can be taken too far and spoil it, which is what unions have done.

But, still, Labor Day is about honoring Working Americans. God bless them.

Jesus does speak to what constitutes marriage, if not directly speaking against homosexuality. In Matthew 19:3-6

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?

So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Notice He says “male and female” - also, as someone else pointed out, the Scriptures used in Jesus’ time was the Torah, Pentateuch, (the Law and the Prophets i.e. the Old Testament) which clearly name homosexuality as sin.
