According to the Pew Research Center report, "What Americans Know About the Holocaust," only "45 percent of almost 11,000 Americans surveyed didn't know the Nazis killed 6 million Jews during World War II." But it gets worse. A 2019 survey indicated that, "Most Austrian adults do not know 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust." Only "58% said the Holocaust referred to the extermination of the Jewish people," while "56% did not know 6 million Jews had been killed in the Holocaust; 10% said around 100,000 Jews were killed."

Two green energy companies contributed a quarter of a million dollars to the American Indian tribe spearheading a months-long demonstration against an oil pipeline in North Dakota. Standing Rock Sioux voted unanimously April 5 to accept two $150,000 donations from ConEdison Development and Fagen Inc., both of which have partnered up to build windmills in the North Dakota area, according to internal documents kept by the tribe. According to the protest organizer, six protestors in the southern blockade stuck their arms into holes in the sides of 55-gallon drums and had concrete poured over them. Firefighters had to use power saws to cut open the drums, which weighed 1,200 pounds. The Boston Globe reports: “When a Boston firefighter’s power saw generated sparks that flew onto the protester, he screamed in pain.” The protestors wore diapers, anticipating a long wait.

The left-leaning protestant denomination United Church of Christ announced that it will sponsor the sporting event "Gay Games 9" in August as the first mainline denomination to provide major financial support. A news report from the Netherlands points to a form of theological insanity that is spreading far beyond the Dutch. Ecumenical News International reports that church authorities in the Netherlands have decided not to take action against a Dutch pastor who openly declares himself to be an atheist. The pastor, Klaas Hendrikse, serves a congregation of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. In 2007 he published a book described as a "manifesto of an atheist pastor."
