Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, given a ticket by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma, to attend President Bush's State of the Union address Tuesday evening, was arrested by Capitol police in the front row of the House gallery, reportedly for wearing a T-shirt with an anti-war message in violation of House rules. Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq while serving in the Army, gained national fame in August when she camped out near Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch unsuccessfully seeking a meeting with the president. Since then she has campaigned against the war and was arrested outside the White...

Cindy Sheehan said she will be part of the live audience during the president's State of the Union speech to congress Tuesday. Bay Area Congresswoman Lynn Woosley gave anti-war activist a gallery pass late Tuesday, just hours before the planned State of the Union speech. Sheehan was in Washington to protest the president during his national address, but then came word she was invited to see the speech live. A spokesman for Sheehan says she decided to accept the invitation two hours prior to the speech. The spokesman also said that Sheehan will be respectful and listen to the address...

This past Thanksgiving, my grandparents brought to me a recent issue of Aramica, a non-sectarian, non-partisan, bilingual newspaper focusing on the issues, events, and people impacting the Arab American community which, in New York and New Jersey alone, numbers well over 350,000. Aramica maintains a good reputation, or so I thought, until I looked at the cover page and lo and behold, there was Cindy Sheehan. Some people call this woman a "media whore." I don't like this nor do I agree with this. However, ever since Hurricane Katrina knocked Cindy off page one, she's been popping up in a...

A dozen war protesters were arrested Wednesday for setting up camp near President Bush's ranch in defiance of new local bans on roadside camping and parking. About four hours after the group pitched six tents and huddled in sleeping bags and blankets, McLennan County sheriff's deputies arrested them for criminal trespassing. Another dozen or so demonstrators left the public right of way after deputies warned them they would be arrested. The protest was set to coincide with Bush's Thanksgiving ranch visit. The arrests were made by more than two dozen deputies who calmly approached the demonstrators in their tents and...

Like most Texas reporters, I have made the pilgrimage to interview Cindy Sheehan and her anti war comrades parked in front of Crawford. One of the made-for-television signs held up behind Cindy during the news event I attended was particularly disturbing. "Iraq," read the sign held aloft by two prosperous looking white women,"is Arabic for Vietnam." By holding this sign, I presume they would favor that the Iraq war end the same way the war in Vietnam ended. I also presume that this means they would not oppose the same fate for the people of Iraq that befell the people...

CRAWFORD - President Bush's supporters poured into Crawford by the thousands Saturday, for the first time outnumbering war protesters led by Cindy Sheehan, who began a vigil here three weeks ago, demanding a personal meeting with the vacationing president to talk about her son's death in Iraq. With police security tight and the heat intense, tempers flared, and traffic was clogged. But by late afternoon, only two people had been arrested for what the Secret Service described as a minor "attitude thing." An estimated 3,000 to 4,000 people attended a pro-Bush rally in Crawford, waving flags and pledging allegiance to...

Cindy Sheehan, Wednesday, August 24, 2005: I’m like if I truly was a media whore do you think I would like maybe get myself fixed up a little bit before I went on?

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is now "channeling" her slain son, Casey, from heaven, suggesting he's calling President Bush "an idiot," and she claims to have "tens of thousands of angels" supporting her cause to bring U.S. troops home immediately. "When I get up [to heaven], he's gonna say, 'Good job, mom,'" Mrs. Sheehan said in a speech last night upon her return to Crawford, Texas. "He's not going to say, 'Why'd you make me spin in my grave?' you know. And I can just hear him saying, 'George Bush, you are really an idiot. You didn't know what you were...

Excellent coverage of how the rest of the family feels about all this. Print edition only, not on-line. Excerpts ... But Patrick (the father) feels that Cindy's activities are eclipsing the memory of Case, 24, a Humvee mechanic, who died trying to save soldiers wounded in an ambush. "Casey's life is not being honored", he says, "I'd like you to know that Casey was proud to be a soldier"

BOISE -- All four of the Boise area's broadcast television stations will air an ad featuring Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan during President Bush's visit to Idaho today and tomorrow. AP Boise TV stations will air ads featuring Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan during the President's visit to Idaho. The 60-second ad that accuses Bush of lying to the American people about the war in Iraq will air through tomorrow after supporters contributed $10,000 to buy the air time. The ad aired earlier this week in Salt Lake City, but one station refused to run it, saying it was offensive to the...

Our correspondent Gene Allen reports that just a few minutes ago, an unidentified man telephoned the Yellow Rose Gift Shop in Crawford, Texas and said, "Your shop is going up in smoke, you better get out now." Law enforcement is on the scene. Gene describes the Yellow Rose as "a pro-Bush gift shop with a Ten Commandments monument out front. It is located across the street from the Coffee Station, down the street from the Crawford Peace House." I don't suppose any of those peace-loving folks would have anything to do with a bomb threat. CRAWFORD, Tex., Aug. 16 -- Cindy Sheehan rode into town 10 days ago, a forlorn mother with a question for her president: Why did my son die in Iraq? But now the same wave of publicity and political anger that she rode to become a nationally known symbol of the antiwar movement threatens to crash down on Sheehan herself. Conservative commentators and Web sites are taking aim at Sheehan with the same ferocity she has aimed at President Bush. In part, they are using her own words against her -- reciting such controversial comments as her vow to refuse to...
