    Israel365News ^ | 11/8/21 | Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz
After an exhaustive study into the details surrounding the oil used to anoint the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) and kings of Israel, the Sanhedrin is moving forward to prepare enough to anoint the Messiah from the House of David who, when he returns, will rule over Israel in the Messianic era. The anointing oil was described in the Bible to be used in the consecration of the Tabernacle: Make of this a sacred anointing oil, a compound of ingredients expertly blended, to serve as sacred anointing oil. Exodus 30:25 (snip) Rabbi Hillel Weiss, the spokesman for the Sanhedrin, announced the...

Every year at Christmas my mother-in-law sends us a big box of cookies. I think she makes the best chocolate chip cookies I've had, but this year I tried the Raisin Jumbos, which were really excellent. She makes most of her cookies with butter, but uses Crisco for this one; and she doesn't add nuts, which I think would be 'gilding the lily': JUMBO RAISIN COOKIES Preheat oven to 375 degrees.   1 c. water 1 c. shortening 3 eggs, beaten 1 c. nuts (optional) 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. allspice 2 c. raisins 2 c....

One of the prettiest of the holiday specials for television done by Jacques Pepin is his Hanukkah Celebration video. Everything he made for the meal was visually beautiful and different. I especially liked the Frozen Souffle, and the Chicken-Pistachio Mousse covered in aspic above, which is a lot easier to do than it appears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWzfqc5rf5E__________________________________________________ A great tool for making holiday treats are these irons; the flower shaped ones make cookies, but the shell-like ones are great for making little cases to stuff with savory or sweet fillings. The shapes are made by dipping the iron in batter, and then...

My parents told me many times how much they dreaded the Christmas season. Living in a little shtetl in Poland, they knew what to expect. The local parish priest would deliver his sermon filled with invectives against the Jews who were pronounced guilty of the crime of decide, responsible for the brutal crucifixion of their god and therefore richly deserving whatever punishment might be meted out against them. No surprise then that the Christian time of joy meant just the opposite to the neighboring Jews. The days supposedly meant to be dedicated to "goodwill to all" were far too often...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is marking Hanukkah as a story of "faith over doubt." Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden convened a Hanukkah celebration at the White House Thursday in an early celebration of the Jewish Festival of Lights. Obama said the Hanukkah story was about "right over might, faith over doubt." In the Hanukkah story, a small band of Jews rededicating a Jerusalem temple found that a one-day supply of oil kindled a flame instead for eight. The president noted "our unshakeable support and commitment to the security of the nation of Israel."...
  • Imprisoned Iranian Ayatollah Offers Hanukkah Greetings to Jews

The name of Iranian ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi is little known outside his own country, which is unfortunate. Ayatollah Boroujerdi has been held in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison since 2006. Boroujerdi, aged 50, is an heir to a distinguished Shia clerical family. He was born in Tehran and educated in the Shia religious center of Qom. Like his father, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Ali Kazemeyni Boroujerdi (1924-2002), Boroujerdi preaches the pre-Khomeini interpretation of Iranian Shiism, which calls for religion to be kept apart from politics. His health has been badly affected by the conditions of his imprisonment, yet he...

Catholic League president Bill Donohue opines as follows:· The menorah in Nashville’s Riverfront Park is okay by the ACLU, but the crèche in Clarksville, Tennessee is not. Why? The City of Clarksville paid $200 for the animals used in the nativity scene. · A woman from Manchester, Massachusetts was told she cannot have a live nativity scene outside her First Parish Church. Why? The church sits on the town common. · A life-sized crèche has adorned the Chambersburg public square in Pennsylvania for about a half-century, but there won’t be one this year: the decision to censor it was made...

The Jews in Jerusalem and in the land of Judea send greetings to their brethren, the Jews in Egypt, and wish them true peace! May God bless you and remember his covenant with his faithful servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. May he give to all of you a heart to worship him and to do his will readily and generously. May he open your heart to his law and his commandments and grant you peace. May he hear your prayers, and be reconciled to you, and never forsake you in time of adversity. Even now we are praying for you...
  • Full-Size Christmas Trees to Return to Seattle Airport [all trees going back up!]

SEATAC, Wash. — The Christmas trees are going back up at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Port of Seattle officials had ordered the trees taken down over the weekend after a local rabbi threatened a lawsuit if a menorah wasn't also displayed at the airport. Airport officials say they took that action out of concern that if they allowed the addition of a menorah, they would also have to display symbols of other religions and cultures, which was not something airport workers had time for during the busiest travel season of the year. Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky says he never asked that the...

While the U. S. Postal Service still issues a Christmas stamp, note the poster in many post offices advertising its seasonal stamps. At the top of the poster is an stamp featuring cookies. Then comes the Hanukkah stamp, only then the Christmas stamp, then the Kwanzaa and Eid (Moslem holiday) stamps. Here's the rub. All holidays are clearly labeled on the poster: Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid--except for the Christmas stamp. That one is labeled "Madonna and Child." They won't use the "C" word on the poster (though it is used on the stamp).

New York, Nov. 14, 2005 (CNA) - Wal-Mart officials have restored the theme of Christmas to their Web site and rescinded outlandish statements made by an employee about the origin of Christmas after the Catholic League filed a series of complaints of discrimination. "This is a sweet victory for the Catholic League, Christians in general, and people of all faiths," said Catholic League president Bill Donohue, according to a report by WorldNetDaily.com. The controversy was sparked when a woman recently complained that Wal-Mart was replacing its "Merry Christmas" greeting with "Happy Holidays." The woman reportedly received an e-mail response from...

A merry Jewish Christmas Posted: December 24, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern© 2004 WorldNetDaily.com In the "War on Christmas" this year, one clear truth has emerged: The debate over religious symbols does not stem from one clear group - observant Jews. In all the debates about how a "Merry Christmas" does not seem to include non-Christians, it is clear that those leveling that charge are not those who celebrate Hanukkah. This fact is being largely ignored by the same press which is idolizing the secularists who are making all the noise. Some evidence? A new CNN-Gallup poll out on Thursday found that 88...

The Human Potential Movement celebrates the power of man. Chanukah celebrates the power of the Divine. As a staffer for Tony Robbins, Robin Moskow did the "fire walk" 31 times. This impressive feat entails walking barefoot over a ten-foot-long strip of burning coals heated to 1200° F. The "fire walk" is the climax of the first night of Tony Robbins's popular weekend seminar, "Unleash the Power Within." Of the 1500-4000 participants at every seminar, 99% choose to do the "fire walk." In her years with Tony, only once did Robin see a participant burn her feet. Hundreds of thousands of...

The final installment of Peter Jackson’s stunning screen adaptation of J.R.R Tolkien’s "Lord of the Rings" – "The Return of The King" -- premiered on December 17th. Not surprisingly, it had the highest first 5-days box office in history ($246 million worldwide). Since its publication in Britain (1954-1955), Tolkien’s Trilogy – as fans reverently refer to the epic – sold over 50 million copies, and that was before the release of Jackson’s movies, which naturally spurred sales of the books. Such is the author’s popularity that a Lycos word search of J.R.R. Tolkien turns up over 2 million entries, compared...

"Happy Holidays" --- Bah! Humbug! By Chuck Baldwin Food For Thought From The Chuck Wagon December 23, 2003 These politically correct holiday wishers are quickly turning me into a modern-day Scrooge. I am nauseated with their incessant "Happy Holidays" greeting. The lengths to which they will go to avoid saying, "Merry Christmas" is nothing short of sickening. For more than 300 years, Americans have celebrated Christmas. Avant-garde egalitarians can like it or not, but it was Christians who settled, created, and constructed this country. America was deliberately and distinctively founded as a haven for Christian people. As a result, our...
