  • Proclamation on Greek Independence Day: A National Day of Celebration of Greek and American Democracy, 2020

    whitehouse.gov ^ | March 24, 2020 | President Donald J Trump
Our great American experiment was inspired by the ideas about liberty, self-government, and the rule of law that traced their roots to ancient Greece. On Greek Independence Day, we commemorate the rich history shared between the United States and Greece, which is fortified by our love of freedom and commitment to democratic institutions. We join the Greek people in celebrating another year of independence and unity. The great thinkers of ancient Greece stoked the American quest for freedom and a republic founded on the fundamental truth that people have rights that cannot be denied. Decades later, the same values that catalyzed...

After a roaring success on Independence Day, President Trump announced from the White House Monday afternoon Salute to America will take place again next year. "I hope you all had a truly wonderful Independence Day weekend in spite of the heavy rain, and it was really heavy, we had a remarkable Salute to America on the National Mall. Incredible," Trump said. "Standing on the steps of the great Lincoln Memorial and looking out on the crowd, these incredible, big beautiful crowds braving the weather all the way back to the Washington Monument, we celebrated freedom and all of its magnificence...

Frank Meza, a South Pasadena, California, physician who was recently disqualified from the Los Angeles Marathon for not following race rules, was found dead on July 4 in a dry channel of the Los Angeles River, numerous outlets reported. Meza was 70 when he recorded a time of 2:53:10 at the Los Angeles Marathon on March 24 this year. His time was 90 seconds faster than the official age group world record for the distance, 2:54:48, set in 2004. Meza’s performance raised suspicions among those online who root out race cheaters, especially because Meza had already been disqualified twice from...

Hillary Clinton is speaking out against President Donald Trump’s flashy display of military might for the Fourth of July, adding her voice to widespread criticisms of the event. “We need a strong national defense, but a president shouldn’t need it next to him in a parade to show his patriotism,” she wrote Thursday in a tweet.

On this Independence Day weekend, all Americans should thank God we live in this country. We are indeed fortunate to be Americans and reside in the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”This is the country that liberated the world from the horror of Nazism and Imperial Japan. We brought down the “evil empire” and freed millions of people from the grips of a communist dictatorship. In every major international organization, from the NATO alliance to the United Nations, our country plays a leadership role in financial diplomatic and military support. When a disaster hits anywhere in...

Happy Independence Day. What a great time to be an American. Despite all the hate speech from radical Democrats, we are still the greatest nation in world history, ever-blessed by God -- and the greatest economy by a mile and the greatest military by a mile and the country that most welcomes immigrants by a mile. So, what's the problem? Why the hate and self-loathing coming from Democrats and liberal groups? Did you watch the Democratic debates? The radical extremism on stage was sickening. Democrats live in a bubble. All they care about are illegal aliens and open borders. All...
  • Les Deplorables: The Media Freakout Over Tanks At Trump's July 4th Event

Guess what happened today, folks. I woke up and found out that President Trump didn’t take over the country via a military coup. I was astonished because everyone was telling me that this was a prelude to a coup. Anyone with a scintilla of cognitive function knows this was straight trash, but the media has their marching orders from the Democratic Party: ‘Orange man…bad.’ There could have been zero tanks; the media still would’ve criticized Trump. Why? Because he’s president and that loser Hillary Clinton is not. She will never be president. They still have yet to get that through...
  • Adam Schiff Refers to America's Birthday as "Swamp Day"

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome, referred to America's birthday this week as "swamp day." In Washington, DC, Trump celebrated Swamp Day by: 1.) Making July 4th an ode to himself; 2.) Diverting $2.5 million in Park funds to pay for it; 3) Taking $750,000 in fireworks from a donor; and 4) Postponing tariffs on China the same day, as the donor wanted. Happy 4th!— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) July 4, 2019 Classy, as always.Meanwhile, hundreds-of-thousands of people came from all over the United States to witness Salute for America and to watch fireworks in...

President Donald Trump’s Fourth of July “Salute To America” has turned into another opportunity for partisan bickering over crowd size. “I don’t know what the final count was, but that went all the way back to the Washington Monument,” the president said this morning. Trump also touted the crowd size in a tweet following the event. In response to the photo Trump tweeted of “Salute to America,” rumors spread on social media that a photo of a larger 2008 concert had been superimposed on the picture, causing Snopes to issue a fact-check to disprove them. New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez...

Unlike many of her fellow leftists, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who despite the visual evidence absurdly claimed that the July 4 speech by President Donald Trump was "poorly attended," Salon politics writer Amanda Marcotte admitted the truth about the size of the large crowd. However, while conceding the evidence was true, Marcotte rationalized it by claiming the big turnout was due to..... racism. You could tell where Marcotte's fantasies were leading just by reading the subtitle of her article, "Don't forget this: Trump's fans are loyal, and stuck with him through his Fourth of July fiasco": "The grim determination of Trump's...

Despite all the grousing and griping about his "politicizing" of the Fourth of July and "militarizing" America's birthday, President Donald Trump turned the tables on his antagonists, and pulled it off. As master of ceremonies and keynote speaker at his "Salute to America" Independence Day event, Trump was a manifest success. A president acting as president is almost always a more effective campaigner than a president acting as campaigner. And Trump, in what he said and did not say, played the president Thursday night. The crowd on the Mall was huge and friendly, extending from the Lincoln Memorial to the...

Amid the fireworks and cookouts, America's birthday party is infused with the inspiring rhetoric from our nation's founding document. The Declaration of Independence reminds us that we are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with "certain unalienable rights." These include "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Many Americans mistakenly believe that these inspiring words rallied the nation to fight for its independence. But that's not how it happened. In reality, it was a case of the culture leading and the politicians lagging behind. The Second Continental Congress simply ratified what had already happened. The first shots in...

I think the salute to the armed forces and flyover were great. I think it should be done every year. You know the line on the tax form every year that asks: "Would you like $3 of your federal tax to go to the Presidential Election Campaign Fund?" Well, how about a box you can check asking if you'd like some of your tax money to go to a 4th of July Washington,DC military flyover like we had yesterday? May not be enough to fund it every year, but maybe every other year.

They hated it. They couldn’t stand it. They still cannot stand that this man is president. So, when Trump concluded his Fourth of July address, CNN was there to pounce on it. The notorious anti-Trump network went into overdrive mocking the address because that’s all they can do. Leading up to this event was a freak out over tanks being in the capital. Pure liberal idiocy was on display and that will have to be revisited soon (via Grabien News): CNN mocks Trump's #4thofJuly speech: "It seems he is reading a Wikipedia page about historical events." "There was a USA...

Over 40 Gold Star mothers and wives gathered on the U.S. Capitol lawn for the anti-socialism “Rally for Freedom,” joined by outspoken conservative actor Jon Voight on Independence Day. Voight said that our fallen heroes risked everything, just like the nation’s Founding Fathers. The Gold Star women wanted to take a stand against what they say is the radical socialist agenda pushed by the extreme left and remember their fallen heroes, who risked everything for the sake of liberty. Voight spoke at the event, saying those fallen heroes risked everything, just like the nation’s Founding Fathers. “I’m an actor, so...

On this Independence Day, let me pay homage to America’s founding fathers who wrote “The Declaration of Independence”, which changed my life by bringing me to the United States in 1988. I was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, right before the start of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. I lived with my parents and two younger brothers in government housing which had just two small rooms with an outdoor kitchen that my Dad built. There was no indoor plumbing and heating. The free community housing had a mud floor, good for growing mushrooms. Eight families in the community shared one...

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” 2020 presidential candidate South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) criticized President Trump’s plans for July 4th celebrations by stating that the event the president has planned “makes America look smaller.” Buttigieg said, “I think it makes America look smaller. One of the reasons I joined the military was that, in a small way, I wanted to be part of seeing to it that my country was not the kind of place where a leader feels the need to boost his own ego by rolling tanks down the streets of our capital. We’ve always...

CONEY ISLAND — San Jose resident and record-breaking competitive eater Joey Chestnut has done it again — eating 71 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes Thursday to retain his title as champion of the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest. It was his 12th title overall. Chestnut fell short of his world record last year of 74 hot dogs. He was aiming for a new record, having consumed 75 hot dogs in a practice round. But he handily beat the runner-up, Darron Breedon, who wolfed down 50 frankfurters.
