A four-year phase 2 clinical trial demonstrated that a peanut allergy treatment called sublingual immunotherapy, or SLIT, is effective and safe, while offering durable desensitization to peanuts in peanut-allergic children. SLIT is a treatment using a tiny amount of peanut protein that is the equivalent of only 1/75th of a peanut kernel. It is taken under the tongue, where it is absorbed into the body. The research shows that a 4 mg dose of peanut SLIT provides strong desensitization that would be expected to protect against accidental exposures to peanut in the majority of children. …The current trial was designed...

It says:Even though no one can see you eating peanut butter off a spoon in the middle of the night, the jar’s...

Diamond was shot 22 times as she walked the family dog, Peanut, near her home. Her on-off boyfriend DeLeon, 17, was arrested on January 17 and charged with her murder. The Hartford Yard Goats are rewriting the lyrics to “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” after announcing earlier this month its Dunkin’ Donuts Park will be peanut-free. The Yard Goats, Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, are believed to be the first team to ban peanuts for an entire season. Peanuts are prevalent at baseball stadiums, making it difficult for children with peanut allergies to attend games. The Yard Goats held two peanut-free games last year where the park banned the item and did a deep clean of the stadium.

(WHDH) — Planters is stepping into the ever-evolving craft beer world, partnering with Chicago’s Noon Whistle Brewery to launch a new brew for National American Beer Day. **SNIP** Mr. IPA-Nut has is said to have a unique citrus aroma with a hint of honey-roasted peanuts and a slightly salty finish. “It would have been easy to make a great Stout or Porter with nuts, but Planters wanted to prove that nuts go great with any style beer,” Noon Whistle Brewing owner Michael Condon said. “Therefore, we took their Honey Roasted Peanuts and made a great IPA that highlights both hops...

Nuts are an on-the-go snacking staple, yet they are also potentially deadly to a small fraction of the UK population. So is it time to crack down on eating nuts in public and if so, where should we start? About two million people in the UK have a food allergy, with fish, shellfish and nuts among the most common types. More than 25,000 people were admitted to hospital in England for allergies between 2015 and 2016 - a third higher than four years earlier - and the number of people treated for anaphylactic shock is also on the rise. So...

(Newser) – As many as three million Americans may be allergic to peanuts, the Huffington Post has reported, with one study suggesting that the number of kids with the allergy doubled between 1997 and 2002. But those who are affected may have a reason to smile: A new study could point the way to a cure for the condition, the Australian Associated Press reports via the Guardian. For a year and a half, 30 kids with the allergy were given peanut protein plus a probiotic every day; another 30 received a placebo, researchers at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute report....

Former President Jimmy Carter stands head and shoulders above other American politicians -- including President Obama -- in a new Reader's Digest poll of the 100 most trusted people in America that also suggests the problems dogging "Today Show" co-host Matt Lauer have nicked his integrity. The new poll, provided to Secrets, proves that Washington has fallen out of favor in America. The four most trusted Americans are in show business. No. 1 is Tom Hanks, followed by Sandra Bullock, Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep. The first Washingtonian on the list is first lady Michelle Obama at No. 19. Former...

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, March 20, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Former president Jimmy Carter has been strongly identified as a “Born Again” Christian and as a liberal Democrat for nearly five decades. He is once more blending those roles as he promotes “his” latest book, his own study Bible. The NIV Lessons from Life Bible: Personal Reflections with Jimmy Carter contains the full text of the New International Version of the Bible and the former president’s prayers, reflections, and asides. During his book tour to promote a study of the Scriptures, Carter mentioned he supports same-sex “marriage.” President Carter told Paul Brandeis Raushenbush,...

...I thought Huntsman would be my ideal candidate. And indeed, his tax reform proposals--modeled on Bowles-Simpson--are dead-on.... On foreign policy, Huntsman also favors a more realist correction to neocon excess, and would build on Obama's remarkable successes.... And his sanity on climate change--certainty that it is man-made but real skepticism about how to tackle it--is, in my view, the conservative position. And, almost alone among the Republicans, he acknowledges that gay people exist and that our committed relationships merit recognition in the law. So why not Huntsman? The sad truth is: he simply hasn't connected with the voters, generates little...

Former President Jimmy Carter tells Big Think that even as the fight over Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell continues, he believes Americans are ready for their first gay president...Carter says the response to the presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have done a lot to melt the resistance to non-straight-white-guys in the White House: Step-by-step, we have realized that this issue of homosexuality has the same adverse and progressive elements as when we dealt with the race issue 50 years ago, or 40 years ago. So I would say that the country is getting acclimated to a president who...

ATLANTA (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday he sees parallels between today's tea party and his own campaign for the White House in 1976. But he doesn't think the movement will be much of a factor beyond this fall's elections. The Georgia Democrat told The Associated Press he rode a wave of voter discontent to the presidency on the heels of the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal that felled President Richard Nixon, much like tea party conservatives are now earning support by voicing anger at the nation's economic woes. "I was a candidate that was in some...
