But who wants an alternative that doesn’t taste good? No one! This is exactly why we have researched some of the best vegan pepperoni alternatives. So, what is the best type of vegan pepperoni? Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin on Thursday slammed the Food and Drug Administration for its ruling in favor of plant-based milk substitutes, signaling conflict ahead between the agency and a lawmaker representing the state synonymous with dairy farming. The FDA ruled this week that U.S. manufacturers will be able to continue calling certain liquids "milk" even though they come from plant-based sources such as almonds and soy. The ruling came over the protests of dairy farmers who seek to reserve the designation "milk" for true milk. The FDA said in its draft guidance that the "milk" label is "strongly rooted...

Chick-fil-A launched their new cauliflower sandwich on Monday, but some are already complaining about its hefty price tag. The sandwich has a starting price tag of $6.59, according to USA Today, but many are claiming it cost them more than that. The new dish, which is being tested in three markets — Denver, Colo., Charleston, SC, and North Carolina’s Greensboro-Triad area — is the restaurant’s first plant-forward meal. On Chick-fil-A’s website, they describe the sandwich as a “tender filet” made from cauliflower that’s then breaded in their “signature seasoning” and pressure-cooked in their 100% refined peanut oil.

It has been said that sausage is something you can enjoy, but you wouldn’t want to see it made. Then, would you prefer your “meat” extruded from a nozzle in a laboratory? More to the point: Would such a food be as delicious and nutritious as the original item it is trying to displace in the market? Redefine Meat, a startup out of Israel, is one of the latest companies attempting to sell plant-based alternatives to actual meat. Last week the firm announced a partnership that will see its products distributed throughout Europe, according to Reuters. Specifically, Redefine Meat...

Sunday on New York WABC 770 AM radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD) argued that President Joe Biden and his administration intended to “push people out of” fuel-based vehicles with their energy policy. Thune told host John Catsimatidis that Democrats want to be more “eco-friendly,” so they have decided to push people toward electric vehicles. “I think honestly, that’s part of the strategy,” Thune outlined. “I think it’s to push people out of, you know, fuel-based vehicles. But you are absolutely going to crush the economy and a lot of middle-income families, many of whom are...

A program designed to promote ethanol and biodiesel fuels will be expanded to companies using plant-based plastic, rubber and fiber in manufacturing products such as bottles and packaging, the U.S. Agriculture Department said on Wednesday. The USDA is proposing in a new agency rule to add manufacturers of these plant-based products to a loan guarantee program that has provided more than $844 million for 10 biofuel projects since 2008. Loan guarantees allow companies building new plants to borrow money at lower interest rates. Under the proposed new rules, loans of up to $250 million will be offered to projects involving...
