RUSH: Let me get this out of the way. Media reaction to this. There’s been all kinds of it. Let’s go to the stats first. CBS: 76% approve of the speech — all kinds of people — 59% CNN very positive view of the speech. This is the exact opposite what the media was setting the table for, the exact opposite what the left thought they were gonna get. They thought they got a guy last night that was gonna be putting his foot in his mouth and tripping over himself all night. They walked in there arrogant, condescending, so...

After meeting Pope Francis at the Vatican, Alfie Evans’ father says the Vatican hospital is “ready to take Alfie immediately” and provide the care and treatment Alder Hey Children’s Hospital refuses to provide. Tom Evans, 21, and Kate James, 20, have fought an extended legal battle with the children’s hospital to get it to allow them permission to take Alfie to the Bambino Gesú hospital in Rome. But Alder Hey hospital says it’s in Alfie’s best interests to pull his life support, potentially killing him. Last night Tom Evans posted on the Alfie Army Facebook page to describe his time...

Palm Bay, FL – A 22-year-old man reportedly out to burglarize a few homes in Brevard County found out the hard way that crime doesn’t pay. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, a burglary suspect they were actively looking for on Nov. 13 realized deputies were hot on his trail and chose to hide near Barefoot Bay lake. That decision proved fatal. While hiding near the water, it seems the burglary suspect, identified as Matthew Riggins, ran afoul of an 11-foot alligator. Seeing easy prey, the gator attacked.

Since news broke that the IRS targeted conservative organizations due to their political views, some on the left have celebrated the actions. The latest to do so is Bette Midler, who took to Twitter Thursday to thank the IRS for going after the small government movement, Twitchy reported. "The IRS overtaxing The Tea Party? I never thought I'd say this to the IRS - THANK YOU! THANK YOU FOR DENYING 501C-4 to any group who hates," she wrote. Some of her followers expressed support for her position.

Is Giuliani a conservative? He might just be Last week C-SPAN featured a discussion about Rudolph Giuliani that left me shaking my head. The gist of the guest's message was that Giuliani was a "Rockefeller Republican" who was suddenly transformed into a darling of conservatives after 9/11. Today, Fox News echoed the same theme. That's quite wrong. Social conservatives have trouble with Giuliani, but by no stretch of the imagination is he a Rockefeller (i.e. liberal) Republican. In fact, in many ways Giuliani is the most conservative of the top three candidates for the Republican nomination. He came by that...

"TV reality star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two co-stars on his show were arrested Thursday in Hawaii on charges of illegal detention and conspiracy in an alleged kidnapping three years ago" "he charges stem from Chapman's capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster on June 18, 2003, in Puerto Villarta, Mexico, said Marshals spokeswoman Nikki Credic in Washington. Chapman's capture of Luster, who had fled the country after being convicted of raping three women, catapulted the 53-year-old bounty hunter to fame and led to the reality series on A&E." " Chapman's son Leland, 29, and Timothy Chapman, 41, no relation,...

New York, N.Y. — New York Times columnist Paul Krugman says he believes the United States needs a "mega-Watergate" scandal to uncover a far-reaching right-wing conspiracy, going back forty years, to gain control of the U.S. government and roll back civil rights. Krugman made the comments during a forum, "Books on Bush," at New York University Monday evening. While other authors present — former Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, and House of Bush, House of Saud author Craig Unger — directed their fire at the Bush administration, Krugman told the crowd that the president is simply a...

Why I Am Voting For Kerry for President I am a senior citizen. During the Clinton Administration I had an extremely good and well paying job. I took numerous vacations and had several vacation homes. Since President Bush took office, I have watched my entire life change for the worse. -- I lost my job. -- I lost my two sons in that terrible Iraqi War. -- I lost my homes. -- I lost my health insurance. -- As a matter of fact, I lost virtually everything and became homeless. -- Adding insult to injury, when the authorities found me...

CHRISTINA "C.J." FROGOZO, a 24-year-old self-proclaimed Democrat since the fifth grade, will never date another Republican again. "My Republican ex-boyfriend and I would literally have three-hour telephone fights about politics, and he used to refer to me and my friends as 'you liberals.'" In the several months Frogozo and the 29-year-old entertainment lawyer from Santa Monica (whom she wishes to remain nameless) carried on a relationship, the two argued about unions ("his dad was a union-buster"), the economy, women's issues, gay marriage, and more. Frogozo eventually convinced him to give money to the Kerry campaign, but the gesture wasn't enough...
