The Church of Sweden has voted to adopt a controversial new handbook which says masculine references to God, such as “He” and “Lord” should be scrapped so as to be more “inclusive”. Despite heavy criticism from organisations including Royal Swedish Academy, on Thursday the church approved the new handbook with a large majority.

Investigative journalist and columnist Joakim Lamotte has reported a new story on his Facebook page, about a young woman, Angelica Wiktor, from Vittaryd in Småland, Sweden. Lamotte writes that he started getting messages from people who knew the woman in June, after she had written on Facebook that she had been raped in the first week of March. Stockholm police announced a plan to place hundreds of microphones in the Järva area of Stockholm in order to automatically alert authorities to crimes in progress as they can identify screams and other sounds. The project is the first of its kind in Sweden and will see hundreds of microphones placed in Järva, a heavily migrant-populated suburb of Stockholm considered to be a no-go zone by many. The Swedish postal service released surveillance footage from one of its trucks showing a particularly daring team of suspected thieves. Men can be seen boarding the truck in motion from the hood of a following car and moving back and forth between the two vehicles.

Sweden plans to use digital “geo-fences” in larger cities to protect against potential terror attacks. A 16-year-old Arab Muslim boy was arrested on Friday in Malmo suspected of rape on a school colleague girl, who did not reach 15. The abuse took place during the school's sports day. Two weeks before, he was convicted of sexually abusing three other girls in the same school.
