Rep. Thomas Massie: “I actually won't accept the premise that AIPAC has the right to interfere in an American election on behalf of a foreign country—And if they do, we have guidelines and guardrails for that, which they seem to be exempt from.”

(CNN)Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson was criticized by two Republican senators on Tuesday at a confirmation hearing over language they claimed she had used in the past while challenging the indefinite detention of clients who were being held without charges at the Guantanamo Bay military prison.

If you’re under the age of 40 and you’re reading this, chances are very good that your interest in the liberty movement was sparked by three-time presidential candidate and veteran Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Paul inspired an entire generation of Libertarians, Constitutionalists and limited-government Conservatives with his 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns. It might surprise you to learn that Paul is not originally from Texas, but Pittsburgh, where he was born to a dairy farmer and his wife. He graduated from Gettysburg State College in 1957, with a degree in biology. He earned his medical degree from Duke’s School of...

Jeremy Corbyn last night refused four times to say Qassem Soleimani was a terrorist — and described his killing by the US as “illegal”. The Labour leader also criticized the killing in the House of Commons after previously writing a letter to Boris Johnson asking for an urgent Privy Council briefing about the US assassination of top Iranian General Soleimani last Friday. He asked for evidence and clarification that proved Soleimani was a threat — but the Prime Minister rejected his request yesterday. Speaking to Sky News last night, Mr. Corbyn was asked four times whether he believed Soleimani had...

While speaking on Saturday in South Carolina, 2020 presidential candidate former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) accused President Donald Trump of inciting violence against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN.) by tweeting a video including images of Sept. 11 and comments the congresswoman made about the attack. O’Rourke said, “This is an incitement to violence against Congresswoman Omar, against our fellow Americans who happen to be Muslim.” He added, “This is part and parcel of what we’ve seen from an administration that has described Mexican immigrants as rapists and criminals.”

“The U.S. Empire received a big boost from the 9/11 attack.” Former Rep. Ron Paul, the father of presidential candidate Rand Paul and past two-time candidate for the Republican nomination himself, writes in his new book that he believes “Zionism has played a role in our post-9/11 march toward empire.” Paul’s book, Swords into Plowshares: A Life in Wartime and a Future of Peace and Prosperity, was released last Friday. “Zionism has played a role in our post-9/11 march toward empire, and its influence has encouraged extreme interference in the Middle East,” Paul writes in a chapter entitled “Making America...

Last week's successfully concluded Iran agreement is one of the two most important achievements of an otherwise pretty dismal Obama presidency. Along with the ongoing process of normalizing relations with Cuba, this move shows that diplomacy can produce peaceful, positive changes. It also shows that sometimes taking a principled position means facing down overwhelming opposition from all sides and not backing down. The president should be commended for both of these achievements. The agreement has reduced the chance of a U.S. attack on Iran, which is a great development. But the interventionists will not give up so easily. Already they...

America, we have a problem. In the blood-soaked chaotic Middle East, with few exceptions like the Kurds, our friends either can't or won't fight. The Free Syrian Army folded. The U.S.-armed Hazm force in Syria has just collapsed after being routed by the al-Nusra Front. The Iraqi army we trained and equipped fled Mosul and ran all the way to Baghdad. The Turks could annihilate ISIS in Syria, but they won't fight. Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arabs have sent zero troops to fight ISIS. A handful of air strikes is it. Now consider what our old enemies have done...

Representative Peter King (R-NY) warned on Morning Joe Wednesday morning that the Rand Paul/Ted Cruz wing of the Republican Party would use House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) surprise defeat last night to push a far-right agenda bent on shutting the government down.“My concern is a lot of things are going to be dead and pushed aside,†King said. “I’m concerned that the Ted Cruz supporters, the Rand Paul supporters, are going to use this as an excuse to basically stop the government from functioning. Thank god there’s no debt ceiling bill coming up. Thank god there’s no way to...

If Peter King’s brand of Republicanism seems to be on the wane these days, the Long Island congressman isn’t letting it go quietly. Kng, 69, has long been one of the Hill’s most quotable and irascible troublemakers, a frequent presence on cable television with an apparently boundless capacity for outrage. He has fumed over topics as serious as Hurricane Sandy relief and aid for 9/11 responders, and as comparatively trivial as the White House party crashers and the death of Michael Jackson (whom he called a “lowlife” and a “pervert.”) King broke with Newt Gingrich over the government shutdowns of...

Republicans are moving comprehensive immigration reform forward on Capitol Hill because “we understand it’s solid for the economy,” conservative activist Grover Norquist declares in an exclusive Newsmax TV interview. “Immigration is America’s number one economic asset,” Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, tells Newsmax. “The rest of the world can’t do that. We can have every smart person we want; every high-skilled person we want. A lot of young people just starting out unskilled—as all Americans do when they’re born here—come to this country, and so the business community is for immigration. Big businesses, small businesses, high-tech, low-tech, the...

Pentagon brass chafes at Obama's Iraq pullout plan Gareth Porter, Inter Press Service WASHINGTON: CENTCOM commander General David Petraeus, supported by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, tried to convince President Barack Obama that he had to back down from his campaign pledge to pullout all US combat troops from Iraq within 18 months at an Oval Office meeting on January 21, sources have said. But Obama informed Gates, Petraeus and Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen that he wasn't convinced and wanted Gates and the military leaders to come back quickly with a detailed 16-month plan, according to two sources who...

WASHINGTON – The "War on Terror" is losing the war of words. The catchphrase burned into the American lexicon hours after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, is fading away, slowly if not deliberately being replaced by a new administration bent on repairing the U.S. image among Muslim nations. Since taking office less than two weeks ago, President Barack Obama has talked broadly of the "enduring struggle against terrorism and extremism." Another time it was an "ongoing struggle." He has pledged to "go after" extremists and "win this fight." There even was an oblique reference to a "twilight struggle" as...

Where is Afghan mission heading? Canada should demilitarize the mission as much as possible, seek political reconciliation with the Taliban and stop blaming Pakistan for the insurgency Apr 12, 2007 04:30 AM Haroon Siddiqui What are Canadian soldiers dying for in Afghanistan? The official answer is that (a) they are there so that terrorists don't come here, though the reverse is more likely, and (b) our troops are helping the Afghans get back on their feet. The more realistic answer is that (a) Gen. Rick Hillier wanted to prove to the Americans that Canada belonged in the big league, and...

Editor's note: In 2004, Richard D. Lamm, former governor of Colorado, addressed a conference sponsored by the Federation for American Immigration Reform in Washington. The following remarks are reprinted with his permission. Richard. D. Lamm I have a secret plan to destroy America. If you believe, as many do, that America is too smug, too white bread, too self-satisfied, too rich, let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. History shows that nations are more fragile than their citizens think. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise...

At 5:45 PM Eastern / 2:45 PM Pacific, Fox News Channel's "The Big Story w/ John Gibson" will report on the developing story involving more than $1,000,000 in contributions from the Bin Laden family to ex-President Jimmy Carter. The revelations came about following an investigation by Melanie Morgan and the Censure Carter Committee - a project of the pro-troop organization, Move America Forward. These developments are in addition to tens of millions of dollars in funding from Arab governments who are appreciative of Carter's anti-Israeli stance and Carter's opposition to U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East including opposing...

In his acceptance speech for the 1976 Democratic nomination, Jimmy Carter said a memorable phrase: The income tax system, he said, “is a disgrace to the human race.” It is certainly the best rhyme of Carter’s presidency, and it is still apt, because it describes Carter himself to a T. After flunking as president, Jimmy Carter has now become an unalloyed embarassment. As president Carter almost managed to drive the US economy off the road, with the highest combined inflation and unemployment rate in a half century. Even worse, it was Carter who brought Ayatollah Khomeini to power, by refusing...

The anti-war crowd held another well-publicized “End the Occupation” rally in Washington DC this past weekend. The rally’s primary sponsors were ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) and United for Peace and Justice. The rally was also the final stop for the Cindy Sheehan bus tour. Thanks to CSPAN’s live coverage, America got to see the anti-war crowd in all its glory. Peace signs, “Bush is a Liar and War Criminal” t-shirts and Palestinian scarves were haute couture at the rally. There was even an American Flag but not in the usual sense. Someone had replaced the...
