California: Davis, top aides scramble to avoid onus for Oracle contract debacle

It's amusing, in an appalling sort of way, to watch Gov. Gray Davis and his top aides scramble to shun responsibility for the Oracle Corp. computer software scandal.

This is, after all, a governor who has boasted that he controls virtually every decision made in his administration -- who, in fact, has profanely berated underlings who did something without his approval.

Nice to see Walters back at work. He looked like he left the ranch a while ago...

"Cortez would be the more appropriate official to hold responsible for the Oracle debacle..., but Davis had already fired several high-ranking Latino officials and could ill-afford another incident...."

The most disgusting sentence in the entire article is right here. The idea that you protect someone because of their race is inherently a racist attitude, and one that is ubiquitous among "progressive" politicians.

The idea among minorities that every firing is racially motivated is equally abhorrent. Are the Hispanic "leaders" becoming copies of the black "leaders"?

It's amazing what SnOracle gets away with in it's gov't dealings. 95 million dollars? What? Did they plan to automate everything in this hemisphere?

I agree absolutely. Who are the racists today? The Democrats? Why? They are the Democratic party, which capitalized upon the resentment against the newly-freed slaves in both the industrial North (no *&*&^& is going to get my job) and in the South (no (**&&^ is going to get my land). As time wore on and overt racism became passe`, they simply glossed over it while the attitudes remained the same. Now blacks, Latinos, women, the disabled, are all people over whom the Dems can gush fake sympathy and fake concern while making sure that they never outgrow their dependence upon the government. For as long as they can be bought with guady trinkets and money, they can be controlled, and the Dems maintain their power...

The audit report touched off the finger-pointing scramble. During a Legislative Audit Committee hearing, heads of three state agencies disclaimed responsibility for evaluating the software, each saying that he assumed that someone else had done it.

Great bunch of managers Davis has selected for his team!!

Whoreacle is one of those famous companies run by a Rat who loved the Clintoons. This is standard Whoreacle procedure. There was a recent thread/article of the same tactics in a southern state just last week.

Davis is a world class Fascist. He is beyond a socialist. He will befriend any company that will donate massive sums to re elect him. As governor, like the fascists who ruled Italy and Germany, he will remove competition to enable his favorite companies to operate like a state approved monopoly!

If the fishwraps really did their job in reporting these money trails from favorite corporations to the Fascist Davis, the money/blood trail would be so obvious that even a morally blind/deaf and CNS deficient RAT attorney general could follow the trail.

That will not happen as Davis is for abortion, gay rights and will tax us and spend our money until he is aborted from office.

SAVE CALIFORNIA-ABORT DAVIS!

Good point, but the Field Poll also showed that the tax return thing is a non-issue with voters.

In macro view it's a non-issue. In micro view, it probably did not help Simon out with some independent voters. Just MHO. The good news is Nov is a long way off. But either way, hopefully this more important story will bury the debate.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Amusing, appalling and very predictable! The rats are scumbag criminals who have gotten by with all types of criminal activity since Jake Reno deballed the Justice and FBI. Now, new testes are growing back, and things are changing in the US Justice and FBI.

Of course the criminal Kali State Attorney General will never do anything to investigate the Rat criminals in Kali. He will just go after the mean vile energy companies and Microsoft! Wonder how much the Whoreacles have paid him to continue trying to sue MS?

Coop said: 'In micro view, it probably did not help Simon out with some independent voters. "

Why? Are independent voters stupid?

Conflict of interest is something which must be managed.

There are processes which can be implemented to determine whether there is a need for software and which can control the awarding of contracts based on competitive issues. The governor should be able to own Oracle stock without making it impossible for the state to purchase and use Oracle software.

Whatever is the source of Simon's income, there should not be processes which allow him to enrich himself at the expense of Kalifornia taxpayers.

I have absolutely no knowledge of Gray-out Davis' income sources, but his incompetence and willingness to allow his hirelings to profit personally from "mistakes" made in their official capacities speaks very loudly about Davis' expectations.

These Democrat criminals have stolen my rights and are working on stealing my wealth.
