Bill Simon Jr., the GOP candidate for governor, couldn't have scripted it any better.

Newspapers throughout the state have run headline after headline in recent weeks raising questions about Gov. Gray Davis' prolific fund raising.

The controversy provided a needed boost to Simon's campaign, creating a focus for his attacks on Davis' leadership.

I get queasy when a liberal paper like the CC Times says things are playing into Simon's hands. I think Simon is better off selling how his ideas are better for California and saving the issue of Davis's corruption for later. If all he gains is to be seen as constantly harping on Davis, this issue will have been the successful rope-a-dope I feared that it might become.

Its still early in the game. If Bill Simon wins in November it will be despite the state's liberal media. All of which preferred Dick Riordan and which now back Gray Davis.

"He's got to convince people that this issue has put him back in the game," said Bruce Cain, a UC Berkeley political science professor.

Simon's campaign appeared to founder after his stunning, come-from-behind defeat of former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan in the March primary.

Yes, I see. One questionable Field Poll showing a 14-point Davis lead (for no apparent reason) leads to two statements here claiming the campaign is foundering. Guess nobody told that to the President of the United States when he held a massive fundraiser for Simon a few weeks back.

Then came a Field Poll revealing that Simon, virtually even with Davis in March, had plunged to 14 points behind the governor.

Okay, one outlying poll is equal to a floundering, hopeless campaign, but four separate polls showing Simon leading by 2-7 points equals "virtually even."

Nope, no agenda here.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

What the 'twisted liberals' 'End Justifies the Means' group can do with the 'TRUTH'?
*******
Every point in this article is 'twisted' into timing to downplay Simon, as if Simon had advantage and were losing it.

I hope to have time to reconstruct it in an 'unbiased' or even pro-Simon format later today.

The Rat controlled mediots are in bed with Davis even while they are printing the latest of his money grubbing. That goes over very well with the Rat Voting Cult members.

The lack of coverage of Simon's comments are typical of the Rat Mediots spiking the Republicans comments about the crimes of the Rats!

Okay, one outlying poll is equal to a floundering, hopeless campaign, but four separate polls showing Simon leading by 2-7 points equals "virtually even."

This reminds me of a scheme for recounting ballots:
Recount until you achieve the desired result. Then stop and block all other recounts.

Here, the liberals take polls until they achieve their desired results, despite a high error margin and small sample.
Then they stop taking any more polls, keep repeating the desired results, and neglect to mention any other polls.

Perhaps the idea is: keep repeating it and some people will eventually believe it.
I wonder how much longer they can keep quoting the April Field Poll; it was taken before the Oracle scandal was publicized in all newspapers.

They'll keep quoting it until the Oracle mess dies down or the GOP/Simon campaign is able to release a credible poll that actually attracts media attention - no easy feat for a Republican. (Unless of course the Pubbie is trailing badly in said poll.)

<LOL> Oh,oh. I don't wish my praise to be taken as license by you to go overboard.
Before my comment your writing was more in keeping with the way they disguise their bias.

Here's some suggestions to get you back on track.<G>

Collaboration can be fun!
