Leadership demands that he be at the center of government, not hiding in some remote hideyhole. Clue: he IS the center of government, even when he's in the bathroom.
BTW, nobody ELSE is in D.C. either.

Although I too would like to see Bush go back to Washington for image purposes, he should at least address the nation from whatever military base he choses and just say that he is consulting with the top military leaders to ensure that appropriate steps are being taken to deal with the situation. He should do this because the media is portraying him as someone who is running and failing to lead. Image is everything.

Offut and NORAD are similar installations - underground and in mountains. Ain't no mountains in Omaha. The Command Post is under what used to be SAC HQ. I worked there for a year. It's not a hardened site like NORAD at Cheyenne Mtn.

President Bush needs to be in a safe place right now. Until the situation is under total lock-down , it's STUPID for him to go back to the White House.

Bush is the Commander in Chief. His job right now is to protect America and to exact retribution on the enemies of our country. Young men, American warriors will be front and center, the CIC is right where he should be.
They have TV in Nebraska, Louisiana and any other place the SS decides is safe for the CIC.
Andrea Mitchell is s stupid bitch and , God forgive me, an ugly stupid bitch at that.

Your lack of intelligence is showing. I suppose that you would like Bush to gather all our top leaders in one place in DC, just to make it all a little easier for the terrorists.
Bush needs to stay out of DC until we are sure the attacks are over or that adequate security can be provided, just as we tried to get all the ships out of Pearl Harbor when that was attacked. You don't provide a sitting target for your enemy.

You must be kidding!

One terrorist with a shoulder fired missle could sit awaiting the return of Air Force One at each Washington area airfield. That's true. A Stinger could bring down any plane landing at Andrews. I've been stationed at Andrews, and I've noticed how low planes landing at Andrews are when crossing adjoining highways off base.

Andrea Mitchell sez Bush has failed to be our "Comforter in Cheif". That's a direct quote. That's not his job. We need a President who will take some action, not just be there to cry on cue. THAT'S why Bush is where he is.

Bush is probably in the single best place he can be. The base in Omaha is the home of the SAC. DUH!
Can you believe Peter Jennings today?!?!? What a load of crap he's been dishing out all day today. He has been unbelieveable taking every opportunity he can to bash Bush. Little jabs here and there, little snotty remarks about his character, or how is handling this. What a load of crap. BOYCOTT Jennings! How does someone contact ABC to voice their concerns and frustration? What ever happened to unbiased reporting?
To: X-Servative
Unless you know more than GWB or the Secret Service knows at this point about possible threats, quit trying to tell him what to do. Who are you Peter Jennings cousin?

You are correct...the terrorist attacks of this day may not be over......I support GWB wherever he is! May God have mercy on our nation and guide our President!
To: sendtoscott
Do not attack our President at this time, Sir. If you had any knowledge of the military you would realize that Omaha was the headquarters of Strategic Air Command. The Commander in Chief is organizing the troops. He doesn't need to be in the White House to do that. At this time Air Force 1 is the white house. Come on people! DO NOT FIND ANY REASON TO BITCH ABOUT OUR LEADERS RIGHT NOW. Pickett didn't bitch to Lee. No one ever bitched to General Patton. This is a time to fight!!!

I'm sorry, but President Bush should return to D.C. and address the world from the Oval Office. "We shall not be chased from our homes."
Oh for God's sake get a grip man. He is doing exactly what he should do. Go to a safe location and command until the situation is stablized. This isn't 1941, it's 2001 and we have global communications. He can address the world from AF-1 if need be.
To paraphrase Rush Limbaugh, "It dosn't matter where here is as long as I'm here."

Andrea Mitchell sez Bush has failed to be our "Comforter in Cheif". That's a direct quote. Stupid ditz. We need an enforcer in chief. We'll see if he measures up to that.
