It's hard to believe that after 200 years,President John Adams does not have a monument on the Potomac river in Washington,D.C.

Read the book and I loved it. Found out a lot of great information. I highly recommend it. Adams was a great man. We will never see his likes again.

There's no picture of John Adams on our money.

He is surely more deserving of having his picture on the five-dollar bill than the tyrant currently depicted there.

I just think it's a shame that Adams does not have a monument, after all the sacrifices he made for this country.

Yep. In the US, it's our five-dollar bill that's a looney. :-)

I think that McCullough's book is the best monument right now. I was thinking that another great forgotten President is Calvin Coolidge.

"John Adams" was a great book. When you are done with it you become depressed that there are no men like him alive today.

Thanks for the excellent post. John Adams has been my favorite Founding Father since a most wonderful college history professor taught a class about him in 1987. It's high time this great man had a monument dedicated to him. I too am going to contact my congressman.

I have David McCullough's book and am reading it now. So far, it's excellent!

I couldn't agree more with you! If you all have a mind to,please contact your congressmen and senators and ask them to approve a monument to this great man! I've got to contact my 2 senators later this evening.

I know.His book is great,it's just that I think it's a real shame that a monument,after all of this time,is not built in D.C.Maybe someday.I hope that it's soon.

Thank you, sneakers! What part in the book are you at?I'm about a quarter from being done.He truly was a great man. You're lucky to have had a professor who taught a course on him! I'm ashamed to say that before this book,I hardly remembered John Adams.I guess the reason,I took a chance and bought it was because I used to work with a lady who on her mother's side is a descendant of John Adams. When I first bought the book and looked at the cover,I couldn't get over the family resemblence to my co-worker! Same coloring, shape of the eye,the mouth. And this girl was SO SMART - the real tell-tale sign that she was,in fact,a descendant of John Adams!
