That's not because of illegal immigration. That's incompetence of Gray Davis.
Don't give Davis an excuse to shirk responsibility. There was a surplus before he took over in 1999. The illegal immigration problem has not changed in those three years, but a change from 16 years of Republican governorship did.
Certainly nothing to do with immigration, legal or otherwise.
Rural enclaves all over America show the same trend.
The towns these Mexicans came from in Mexico are probably safer.
This is the liberal legacy of the last 30 to 40 years and cuts across the board.
Thanks for posting this.
The citizens did try, but we were slapped down by Governor Davis and a leftist judge. Unless the citizens of Hispanic ancestry begin to speak up for their interests as Americans, instead of the identity politics which predominate, I don't have much hope for reducing the invasion of illegals, or the transformation of this state into Mexifornia.
Bush, on this issue, is part of the problem.
They aren't coming from Yucatan. They're from Mexicali and other north towns.
""We, Mechistas commit ourselves to return to our community and contribute to the development of the Chicana/Chicano Nation." (they want back all land that belongs to them, in their opinion,.. but there is more.. read on!!!)
"Finally, as Mechistas, we vow to work for the liberation of Aztlán, leading to socioeconomic and political justice for our Gente. M.E.Ch.A. then, is more than a name; it is a spirit of unity by comadrismo/carnalismo, and a resolution to undertake a struggle for liberation! Tierra y Libertad!" (The liberation of Aztlan, is the retaking **by any force** what they percieve to be "their Land/Aztlan". They are spreading themselves all over the Nation!!! With that in mind,.. read on!!)
"General membership shall consist of any student who accepts, believes, and works for the goals and objectives of M.E.Ch.A. including the liberation of Aztlán"
"Process of Implementation: 1) Every campus outreach program must be analyzed to see if early outreach and supportive counseling is being provided at surrounding junior high school and high school; demand that Mechistas receive work-study to augment such services at the junior high and high schools; 2) Demand that your campus fund a student run, student initiated summer academic enrichment program for high school students that will be organized by the respective M.E.Ch.A. chapter and that will give Mechistas jobs; 3) Understanding that Chicana/Chicano attrition rates are high on all campuses, demand that the university/community college fund the following educational modules: stress management, time management, study skills, writing lab, self-esteem, public speaking, critical thinking, Chicana and Chicano Identity/History, library research, a M.E.Ch.A. National Hotline, and free tutoring; 4) Since services are demand of the university, M.E.Ch.A. must demand that its membership be committed to these services and to academic achievement; 5) Demand that M.E.Ch.A.'s key officers be funded through work-study and offer the rationale that M.E.Ch.A. coordinates youth leadership through retreats and Central activities; 6) Demand that the financial aid office at the respective campus not acknowledge outside scholarships as affecting the final financial aid award from the university and federal/state aid." (Notice the word "demand" in their manifesto's. If you go visit a site.. you will see it often!)
"National Pride"
Recognizing that the majority of our Raza are members of the working class, we avow an anti-imperialist analysis that includes Chicana/Chicano self-determination. Chicano self-determination must begin with the recognition of what is implied in using the term M.E.Ch.A. (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán). Essentially, we are a Chicana and Chicano student movement directly linked to Aztlán. As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that lay claim to the land that is ours by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land. Thus, the principle of nationalism serves to preserve the cultural traditions of La Familia de La Raza and promotes our identity as a Chicana/Chicano Gente."
This was only part of their papers, and all were carefully written!! But one only need to READ this last paragraph from them to understand their intent and manifesto!!! (**Note the use of "self determination" through out).
Bill O'Rielly had this groups current leader on lately and made the guest from MEChA address those two words. They indeed mean taking back Arizona, California, Texas and ALL lands they feel are theirs by birthright!!
I only gave a SMALL amount of information.. but you can see they are anything BUT harmless!!! They were very aggressive to the GRINGO's (that was the racist remark they made about the "white/Jewish" conservative kids who were passing out the information about them at Berkely approx. a month ago). Which from what I'm reading, the info the Jewish kids were trying to pass out, was right on!!! The conservative kids were pointing out their views on the MEChA. And proved, IMHO, that MEChA is a racist bigoted organization. With ill intent on Americans)
And you are right!!! Thanks!!
Funny, but from reading some of the responses here to this thread.. I got the feeling some people didn't really read this article!!
If these immigrant kids, legal or illegal, were taught what Hanson was taught in school when he was growing up, there would be no issue.
The problem is 100% non-immigrant American liberal created and their teaching immigrants and everyone that they are all different, that America is racist, that class warfare exists, that the ideals of America are really shams meant to exploit you, that you are defined by your race and ethnicity, that you are a victim and entitled etc....
If there had been no immigration, legal or illegal, yet the same liberal ethos took over America, as it has, we'd still have similar problems.
Don't let the door hit you, you know where....
We can only hope Simon gets elected in November. If not...forgetaboutit... I am outa here...
The Mexicans accept this lower wage because they can live on it - at 15 to an apartment or something like that. Americans won't work for a salary that forces them to live in such dismal conditions.
If the employers who hire these muchachos are paying them at least minimum wage, then the problem is, indeed, a labor shortage. If they are paying them less, then it isn't a labor shortage, but a desire for cheap labor. In that case there will always be a market for illegals.
IIRC it was 27 years between the Mexican Revolution and the Treaty of Guadalupe. During that time, most Hispanics in the Southwest still considered themselves Spanish, not Mexican. Many didn't even know that the revolution had happened. As far as Aztlan goes, there are no records or theories that indicate that it ever extended further north than Baja.

Bush Wants Food Stamps For Some Noncitizens
Posted: 9:50 a.m. EDT April 11, 2002
WASHINGTON -- House Republicans have blocked President George W. Bush's proposal to restore food stamps to certain noncitizens.
The plan is popular with groups that represent Hispanics, a voting bloc the White House has targeted.
The wife and I volunteer at a local homeless shelter, she as a case aide for Spanish speakers. At least in Denver, the majority come from the interior of Mexico (and countries south), not from the border states like Baja, Sonora, et al. Maybe different in CA, AZ, TX.
In my line of work, there really is a shortage of good people. If I'm on a deadline to have a project complete by a certain date, or face penalty pay....I'll hire whoever I can get. The problem is that many of the American workers in this line of work (not all mind you) are not that dependable. Most want excessive money, rarely do they stay throughout the length of the project, and most are either drunks or dopeheads.
I agree with your train of thought. I'm sure that happens, but I would guess it's an exception rather than the rule....or atleast it is in my line of work.
The funny thing is, we have many professional people who overstay their visas as well. The INS, of course, does not check.
One gal I worked with, I told about my trip all though Mexico a number of years ago.
She said I probably knew Mexico better than she did -- she'd never been to Yucatan or Vera Cruz etc...
