And if they perceive their tactics are working against Israel, they will bring them here.

You are absolutely, postiviely, 100% correct. This is precisely why I'm so angry at the Bush Administration's constant castigations against the good people of Israel for defending themselves!

Why is it the Bush Administration and that panty waste Colin Powell don't understand such a simple point?

Pressuring Israel + Kowtowing to the Terrorist Palestinians = RECIPE FOR DISASTER IN THE US!

If the Israelis had hate, they would have demolished the "refugee" camps from the air. Or sent nuclear weapons into the capitals of some aggressive, hate-filled Arab neighbors.

No, the Israelis are smart enough to pay at least some attention to world opinion.

If the Israelis can suffer the atrocities perpetrated against them without any hate they are doing better than most Christians and they will provide the leadership to resolve this conflict - but I don't see the evidence of that yet.

Well, I do. Is there no shred of hate in their hearts? I don't know, and I don't try to play God. But the Israelis have behaved incredibly humanely... much better than I could have.

What I haven't seen any evidence of is you trying to answer some of the above questions.

No matter what anyone says about the spirit of Islam we have to deal with what it has become. Perception is one thing, reality is another. Has history known a greater silence than that of "peaceful Islam" since 9-11? Whatever it might have been, what it is is dangerous and poses a threat to all of the non-Muslim world. We need to recognize it for what it is and take the necessary steps to prevent it from harming us. Philosophical repose has no place in a world of broken bodies and lives.

thanks for the post. Yes, this is the issue, the eradication of the Jews. This is not about a Pali's homeland, this is about the end of Israel and western way of life in the middle east. This is about attacks on America and the hatred of Israel and America.

"Make no mistake about it..."

Is it just me, or has President Bush influenced many writers and "talking heads" to use this phrase since September 11th??? It is one of his catch-phrases, and it seems to have entered the lexicon...

They have used force before and it did not work. It is not working now (more Arabs are dying than Jews). They have already brought violence here (9-11). This article is part of the problem not a path to the solution. Innocent people are being blown apart on both sides. Hate is being expressed on both sides. The problem is that the leaders on both sides are leading in the wrong direction and there are plenty of willing followers.

9/11 was of a different magnitude, probably difficult for them to pull off now, but from their perspective at least successful in causing some disruption in American life. Small scale attacks, however, could easily be accomplished within the US by smaller, local cells with minimal coordination.

The PA has preserved all they gained through Camp David, gotten an acknowledgement from GWB of their right to a state, bask in admiration (tempered with fear) from Europe, and may well think they are on the verge of UN peacekeepers monitoring the 67 borders for them, while they prepare to drive Israel into the sea. All this though the use of their children as bombs.

And, Israel aside, all that stands in their way is American public opinion. You can make a case that Muslim violence in Europe has accelerated anti Israel and anti semetic feelings, why should our enemies not think it would work in the US? Small attacks directed initially at Jewish sites, but causing consternation among everyone. From an Islamic perspective (and they have lots of time), why would you think it wouldn’t work?

Don't you think that the United States would be obligated to side with Israel in this matter even if there were no possibility that such attacks could occur on American soil?

Yes, it would be the right thing to do. Not everyone would agree.

So explain, Ms. Simplemind. Can you think beyond stupid cliches?

What part of "NO personal attacks" do you not understand? You might consider that what you see in others may just be a reflection of yourself.

How do you cut a deal with a "leader" that wants it all and will not compromise? They could have had the Barak Peace Plan, but opted for War instead.

One (of many) explanations of this goes as follows: The Palestinians were promised certain land but Israel continued to allow/encourage settlements on that land thereby incrementally taking power away from the Palestinians. The Barak Peace Plan offered a large percentage of what was originally supposed to be Palestinian land. This was seen as still incrementally taking land. If it was agreed upon that Palestine consisted of X amount of land, why should they not get all of that land. Israel had established a pattern of incrementally taking Palestinian land (through the settlements) and the Barak Plan sanctioned this. As repulsive as that weasel Arafat is, his actions have some logic if you look at it this way. I am not saying Arafat is necessarily right, but he and the Palestinians think he is right and they are willing to fight for their land - that is not just hate.

One good quote deserves another:

"Oh Moslems, we must raise our voices against America, its ally Britain and all the infidel nations and say that Israel is stealing our land and establishing illegal settlements...Why does America support settlements in Israel? Are the settlements not terrorism? And therefore, America is the chief of the terrorists. Oh Allah, destroy America, her agents and her allies! Cast them into their own traps, and cover the White House with black!

Oh Moslems, our brothers in faith everywhere, the purpose of the American Secretary of State's visit to Palestine is to support the Israeli position regarding deceitful security and fanatical settlements...The strategic covenant between Zionism and the Crusaders is a satanic alliance hostile to Islam and the Moslems and we expect no good from it. The Moslem masses in Palestine and the world over condemn Albright's declarations issued today and in the past two days. The masses condemn America's pro-Israeli stance, which demonstrates that global forces, the heretics, the terrorists and those filled with hate are forging an alliance against Islam and Moslems... Oh Allah, destroy America, her agents and allies! Allah, raise the flag of Islam over the Al-Aksa mosque, Jerusalem and Palestine..."

From a Sermon by PA Mufti Ikrama Sabri, September 14th ,1997, immediately following a 10 minute address by US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright

Saw your 29, I'll post another quote. You know, we could easily go on all day posting quotes from the Arab world encouraging the murder of Americans and Jews.

"O brother believers, the criminals, the terrorists - are the Jews, who have butchered our children, orphaned them, widowed our women and desecrated our holy places and sacred sites. They are the terrorists. They are the ones who must be butchered and killed, as Allah the Almighty said: 'Fight them: Allah will torture them at your hands, and will humiliate them and will help you to overcome them, and will relieve the minds of the believers..."

"Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them - and those who stand by them - they are all in one trench, against the Arabs and the Muslims because they established Israel here, in the beating heart of the Arab world, in Palestine. They created it to be the outpost of their civilization and the vanguard of their army, and to be the sword of the West and the crusaders, hanging over the necks of the monotheists, the Muslims in these lands. They wanted the Jews to be their spearhead..."

Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiya
Member of the Palestinian Authority-appointed "Fatwa Council" and former acting Rector of the Islamic University in Gaza.

They're only fighting for their land only in the context of the destruction of the State of Israel. They've never wavered from that goal since the founding of the PLO in 1964.

Again, because a "highly influencial" person has particular beliefs does not mean all people of that nation think that way. James Carville was a highly influencial member of the Clinton administration and you could get some horrendous quotes from him - is that a fair indicator of American thinking?

You may be correct but after loosing a few wars they may have changed their outlook and expectations a little.

Why would people who keep loosing wars love them?

To cut straight through all the crap, the reasons the fundi-muslims love war is because they hate their own miserable, unproductive lives, and they hate everyone else, especially the Israelis, for loving their own lives enough to do something useful with them.

Israelis, like Americans, are doers. We are productive with our lives. We make the world a better, more efficient place. We build buildings, create products that make other people's lives easier, create jobs, write books and music. How then do you expect a bunch of losers who think the world "owes" them anything, to feel when faced in such close proximity with a superior culture.

Yes, it's true. The Jews have a superior culture. We Americans have a superior culture. The muslims had a brief golden age, but the more fundamental islamicists threw it all away early on in their history, choosing instead to adhere to the more reactionary dogmas of their religion and devolving into a culture which, tho' it may function well in preserving small groups of nomads in the sterile and hostile sands of the arabian desert, has been tragically left behind by the civilized world.

Having been so infamously outperformed in the human arena, the fundi-muslims, unable to cope in the modern world, and too proud to admit that their hard won survival skills have little use in this world except as berserker/warriors, are choosing to stick with the latter.

Fundi-islam is committing suicide by cop. Israel and the U.S. are the only nations, both capable and willing to carry out that function.

Think of the world media as the O.J. jury.

The Jews have a superior culture. We Americans have a superior culture.

How would you rank some of the world's other cultures - like the Japanese, Chinese, African, Mexican, Australian, etc.

How do you rate the Muslim-Americans? Have they any positive impact on our culture?

Isn't our culture somewhat unique since it is comprised of elements of all the world's cultures?
