umm, from a Christian perspective, a Jew who has accepted the New Testament has potentially come to Faith in Christ ... a "replacement theologian" says God is finished with Israel ... which is completely untrue ... now the clear teaching of New Testament Scripture is to bring the Jew to Faith in Christ, as the rest of the world ... also the clear teaching of the New Testament is that Israel will be reborn and that Christ Himself will rescue the remnant (Zech 12, 14, Ezek 39, Rev. 19, Matt 24, Luke 17/21, Romans 11, etc.) ...

You'd be surprised at how much "Replacement Theology" is held here at FR. I was shocked when I realized it.

You were doing just fine with your history until you got to the Celtic fantasy. It's amazing what bullsh*t people will believe. As far as Israelite ancestry goes, I don't deny that there are some, if not many, people with primarily "Celtic" ancestry and some Jewish or Israelite ancestry as well. I'm one of those people, my heritige wasn't the result of some mass migration away from Assyrian captivity, at least not any migration that you can DOCUMENT. More that likely, the "Lost Tribes" were gradually absorbed by the population of Assyria and remain in that vicinity to this day.

Get your facts straight.. The non Jewish russian immigrants is a phenomenom of the past 5-8 years... Jews who left 1988-1994 (and ofcourse in the seventies) *were* Jews.. When did the pollard incident happened? So you're focusing on a minor part of what I said and using that to discredit the rest? The FACT is that Israel sold U.S. intelligence data it had gotten from Johnny Pollard--a HERO in Israel--to the Russians in exchange for exit visas. That's a FACT. Go and read the detailed background, including the remarks by Cap Weinberger.
Why do you think that, despite CONSTANT hounding by our "friends" in Israel, the U.S. has ADMANTLY refused even to discuss Pollard's release, and has denied his parole in each of the two times he's come up for hearing?
That guy was, until the Hansen case, the absolute WORST catastrophe to strike the U.S. intelligence services in history.
And your smarmy, disgusting "friends" in Israel are STILL swarming all over the case trying to spring him.
I thought Netanyahu was a decent enough guy until (1) He continued to harrass the U.S. for Pollard's release, and made a one million dollar payment to Pollard's wife a couple of years ago, and (2) sat and LIED to a Congressional committee trying to make it sound like the U.S.' enemies are all operating in Palestine right now along with the PLO.
The Israeli Likud party are NO friends of the U.S., and as long as those thugs are in power over there, I don't care if Israel never gets another dime from us.
To tell the truth, I could care less one way or another whether Israel lives or dies.
They have been absolutely SH*TTY friends to the United States, the ONLY nation consistently willing to take the heat for them, and they've blown it, big time.
That government is a travesty, and the chickens are coming home to roost for them, right now.

Actually, there is ample evidence in the Bible that Christians are considered 'Jews.'Actually, there is no evidence whatever of that communication-destroying assertion, and immense evidence in the opposite direction.
- The words "Jew," "Jews," and "Jewish" are used in some one hundred eighty-seven verses in the New Testament
- NOT ONE of those uses refers to a Gentile Christian as a Jew
- Paul indeed distinguishes the groupings as "Jews ...Greeks ...[and] the church of God" (1 Corinthians 10:32) three groupings, not two or one.
- If the Bible is God's word, Jeremiah 31:35-40 iron-clad GUARANTEES that Israel remains as a distinct national entity with a future in the plan of God.
- If the church is now, in any sense, Israel, so that "Israel" is a codeword for "not-Israel", then the Bible cannot be the word of God in any meaningful, useful sense
How tragic and shameful that so many "Reformed" folks are so stubbornly UN-Reformed when it comes to reading the Old Testament and prophecy.

Sorry, but ONE ASSYRIAN TABLETS trumps ONE MORE THAN LIKELY with miles to spare. When you can bring something of value to the table we will discuss it. I put some of my evidence on the table. Now kindly examine it and respond at a higher than adolescent level, otherwise you are just more beer farts in the saloon.
The "absorbed" theory was created by those who don't have a viable opinion but think they have to say something, supported by others to whom it is essential that the Lost Tribes of Irael not ever be found. Or if they are found, they must be camel-riding nose-picking savages eating shiskabob over a campfire in the desert. Gotta do better than that.

"Can you provide a valid link to the actual article, and copy/paste the actual title next time? Thanks!" The title of the article is actual! And the article came from the NewsMax Newsletter Alert.

I do thank you for accepting paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 in post #36 as an accurate history of the Israelites. That should enable us to confine our discussion to these remaining 2 paragraphs.
Lets take the first paragraph first. It consists of 2 sentences. Let take the first sentence first.
OK, WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
A 3-MINUTE HISTORYA hundred years later, this "lost" Northern Kingdom of Israel with now over 6 Million Israelites escaped and migrated north through the Caucasus Mountains and past the Black and Caspian Seas, to appear in history ~610 BC as The Celts. These Celts mixed with (and fought) other scattered Israelites ( proto-Celts) who had escaped from Egypt by sea a thousand years earlier and established many outposts in Europe and elsewhere. These Millions of Celts grew over time to become Hundreds of Millions as they migrated in waves westward and northwest to Galatia, Ephesus, Corinth, Phillipi, to what is today Hallstadt, Austria and Neuchatel, Switzerland (where exist major Celtic digs and museums) and beyond, to dominate Northern and Western Europe. They are the rootstock of todays Europeans, and Americans.

Speaking in this line of thought, I have to voice my concerns over many Christian denominations who pay absolutely no attention to the Old Testament, i.e., the Old Covenant.
How can one fully understand the New without understanding the Old? For example, how can one fully understand The Revelation of St. John without also understanding Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and especially Daniel? Answer: One can not do this. In fact, these three Old Testament books are the precursor to Revelation.
As for me, I take all 66 books of the Bible; the 37 Old Testament books and the 29 New Testament ones. The Valley of the Dry Bones is right before our very eyes.

It was a deliberate attack on as US warship, by Israel, to cut off US communications back to Washington. What's the motive?

I thought Netanyahu was a decent enough guy until (1) You found out he was an Israeli? Can you name one Israeli leader that you like? Past or present.
To: Bobby777
But a Jew who has accepted the New Testament does not reject the Tanakh and neither should any Gentile who accepts the New Testament. On the contrary: In the beginning was the Word.
To: Hemlock
If you believe the Bible to be a book of history and prophecy, I find Hosea 1:10, 11 to have some interesting implications. Make no mistake, God knows who His people are. His covenant was made to the patriarch of Israel, that is, twelve tribes. Judah is only one tribe and parts of others (maybe all of Benjamin).
Judah won't reach "sands in the sea" status for centruies, if ever. Then Judah and Israel are mentioned as separate entities coming together. Not possible for that prophecy to be fulfulled if Israel has been absorbed and disappeared.
One or the other: God's prophecies or Bible is just a book.
