Therefore although the Christianity in the West, in the last two centuries, has been in demise it has managed to survive and perhaps it will survive for another two or three centuries. Could have fooled me by the bulging walls of my Orthodox Church. These nay sayers and detractors have predicted that the Church would collapse for 2000 years....lets see if they are still saying this in 2000 more. As for Islam, in the end, it will be the sword that weeds it out.

Thanks for the ping Cool Guy. Good article, but I think the fact that he repeatedly calls Christianity illogical is evidence that he doesn't really understand Christianity. But he does do an excellent job of exposing the vulnerabilities of Islam.

Islam: The Religion of Poverty
Although it hasn't been talked about much since 9-11, I've heard that in the early 1990's
some of the Islamic terrorists mouthed many anti-capitalism slogans...
making some of them sound like "the next Communists".

Turkey is not exactly rolling in green. It's per capita income is $6800. The world average is $7200. Libya's is surprisingly high at $8900.

The reformers need to be very brave, because the people in charge (Muslim clerics, Islamists) are not going to like this too much.
I hope I am wrong, but IMHO Islam itself precludes the introspection and critical thinking required for it to reform. Furthermore the exchange of ideas, freely expressed, is not something you see much of from Muslim countries. To be successful, change must come from within Islam; this change cannot be forced upon it from outside. For the above reasons Islam cannot change, therefore it is stuck in an endless cycle of failure and despair.
I repeat, I hope I am wrong, because the picture is not very pretty.

Jihad was prescribed by Muhammad (Q.2:216), and killing the non-believers is regarded a service to Allah (Q.4:84). The problem here is not Muslims but Islam. It is Islam that prevents Muslims from mingling with their hosts in amity, and integrate with the culture of the country where they reside. It is Islam that teaches them to separate the world in two quarters of Dar-al Harb and Dar-al Islam. The solution to this problem cannot come from the non-Muslims but from the Muslims themselves. Quran is replete with intolerance, violence, discrimination and hate. We could have overlooked the logical absurdity of Islam's holy book but how can we fail to see its intolerance and its message of hate? Moreover the person of Jesus as is reported in the Bible, is sanctified from any blemish. Muhammad on the other hand was a violent man. He was a lustful, pervert, ruthless, arrogant and a maniac mass murder. A man who wishes to emulate Muhammad in this day and age is a man that should be locked in jail. Those who follow truly the example of the Prophet of Islam are terrorists. They are dangers to society. One can be a good Christian and still be a good person. But one CANNOT be a good Muslim, follow all those hate mongering teachings of Muhammad, and be a good human being at the same time.
That is absolutely right.
Hi CC, good to see you.

Question from a Roman Catholic who is not thrilled with aspects of his church leadership: are many of the people bulging the walls of your orthodox church today former Roman Catholics?

Great read! Many insights. Forget that the writer is not a Christian, it's just his take as a former muslim.
