I thought it was CGEB.

All Y'all can call me anything, but CGEB. Man, you give them a little room, they change your gender.

the author claims that Islam and Christianity are dying out, but not a word about Hinduism or other religions. A very flawed article.

Are you sure you got that right? He says:
"Just as Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism are waning not because of the onslaughts of other religions but because of the rebellion of their own freethinkers, ..."
I tend to agree with that - Islam, a relatively young religion, has spread to 25% of the world's population. No other religion can boast of such a rapid rate of rise.

My Iranian friend (who visits there freely) tells me that there is a great deal of foment among the enormous numbers of young Iranian people, and that it is only a matter of time before they overthrow the theocrats who really control the "government", such as it is. And, he says that the young kids are heavily pro American.

Some are, many are also former protestants. Many are new borns, raised. I just don't understand what is the problem with the Catholics in handling the rapists/molesters and gays....has the Catholic church become so corrupted that it can't clean itself? This isn't brain surgery. This is a clear cut, black and white issue. What is the problem there?

Unemployment insurance is not a government handout. It is paid for by employers and employees. Because the program is funded by the people that get benefits, it is truely an insurance program.

Communism, an even newer religion, controlled 1/3 of the world's population within 70 years of its emergence as a real political entity. And fell even faster.

I ,for one, won't buy the theory that communism is a religion. Furthermore, most citizens of communist countries are oppresed to remain so, against their will. And further furthermore, there are instances of communist/socialist countries changing their political philosophy, an equivalent of, say, all of Saudi Arabia converting to Christianity by the end of this decade!

Interesting perspective but also rather sad at the same time. Clearly he's an educated guy who thinks "free thinkers" (those who espouse no organized religion) are the only intellectuals out there.... He calls Christianity "illogical" without saying why--ignoring the fact that "free thinkers" (those who were atheists and espoused no official religion)were actually the communists and nazi's who have killed more people by far than religious people, especially those calling themselves Christians, ever have.

I think he's wrong though about the immanent collapse of Islam--as he seems to think it will be overcome by intellectual "free thinkers." Religion for masses of people is only changed by another competing religion, or ideology. Christianity in Germany or Russia was overcome (temporarily) but ideologies of Nazism or Communism respectively--both political totalitarianisms which required loyalty like more than that of religion. Currently much of the West is dominated by atheistic materialism--which while not formally organized per se, is a strong "religion" in and of itself. Still, Islamic countries won't devolve from Islam into mere skepticism--the peoples there will believe in something--if not Islam, than maybe something far worse. Lets hope the light of the good news of Jesus reaches these peoples--now so enslaved in the chains of Mohammed.
