Nope. That's not the man of the year. It'll be Bush.

Like him or not, Bush has done the most in the last year to affect human events. Bush and Blair, but Bush has obviously been the leader.

Yes, I would have to agree that is the cover of the new issue. If you check the Google cache of that old Person of the Year page, it is the current issue with bearded Saddam. The live link to the page shows The American Soldier cover, with Person of the Year on top...
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=time+%22person+of+the+year%22+list This is it, folks. Ben Stein was right.
Sorry, Brits, guess we get the credit this year. ;-)

If Sadaam's capture didn't cinch it, Libya's cave should.
To ignore Bush would put Time into the dustbin.

It'll be BushYou mean it better be Bush. Wouldn't suprise me if it was Sadam.

Bush has done the most in the last year to affect human eventsYou can say the same for OBL in '01, but Time picked Giuliani.

Appears it is the generic 'soldiers' and not Bush.

Na....
They'll pick some slimy liberal "activist" or an "outspoken" Democratic Hollywierd type.
I have faith in Time.

If that is the choice, then I'd be happy with that. The American soldiers are led by a great commander-in-chief who does everything to give our fighting men and women the credit for their stunning accomplishments. This is but a small nod of appreciation to their skills, their honor, their courage, their decency, and their nobility.

I hadn't recalled that Dubya was Time's MOTY for 2000. In light of that, perhaps the generic U.S. soldier is the best choice.

Arnold would be my guess too. Time hates Bush too much to pick him.

Time's Man of Year?
Works for me!
Although I'd make it a slightly broader class (like the winners "The Middle Class" or
"Young People" from the 1960s)...
Have American, U.K., Australian, maybe a few others (Polish, Italian, Spanish)
soldier in the photo.
I'm not dowing the idea of a Dubya or Dubya/Blair cover...but they'd be honored
if the soldiers they command (and sent into action) were picked for the "Man of The Year"
award.
Heck, anyone who spends time walking patrol in full uniform in 100+ degree temps
during a summer of Iraq, and takes chances at getting killed or maimed for
trying to save a country from Saddam, Inc.
heck, I'd say they've earned it!

If that is the choice, then I'd be happy with that. Me too. However, I cant help but feel that over at Time magazine they were tearing their hair over trying to find someone, anyone, to choose other than Bush. Knowing full well that choosing someone like Saddam would have brought the whole world down on their heads, and that they chose the American soldier to shut us up.
