Amazing that "Inspector" Thornburg was unable to detect any bias.

Says quite a bit: Google the term "Rathergate" - Results 1 - 10 of about 121,000 for Rathergate. (0.13 seconds)

This is not a single American, regardless of their politics, that does not realize that this story was driven by the political hate and bias of CBS, including Heyward and Rather. CBS has to fire both these guys or just get out of the news business. The brass at CBS is fooling absolutely no one. CBS is being destroyed by its own hand. Someone at the top is not in tune with the "real" world.

Twenty years ago, one could have figured out that Dan Rather was going to trip over his own feet.

Or worse!

There was another called "Reflections in a Bloodshot Eye", if memory serves, and it didn't look very well upon van Sauter. And isn't van Sauter the one to push along a major network into the soundbites and three legged dog stories and entertainment tie-ins so common to local news? It got worse during those years.

I wonder what Tisch might think of all this. He's the one that drove Rather to say "courage". In retrospect, I wonder if Tisch didn't do enough bloodletting.

It is rather shocking to see a former prez come out and attack Dan like this.

Did you have any luck putting together those story examples for me (not in some urgent need of them, just asking...have not been home yet to check)? Thanks a bunch for doing that. I really appreciate it.

The story has exploded since the report was issued and most of
it is negative. CBS finds itself in a different World.

agreed.........they are as blind to this as they were to the memos......like an ostrich with it's head in the sand. It would be unbelievable if it wasn't a liberal thing

Don't worry folks, this abboration is just temporary. Things will be back to usual in a month or two. It even seems like PBS Lerh report is behaving. Jimbo seemed sooooo polite to our DoS tonight. He did not interrupt him, nor interject any cute remarks or comeons. They are all scared, but it won't last for long. The American population at large will forget in a few weeks at most that CBS ever had a problem. That is for those that even had an idea as to what CBS pulled off.
Tis the way America works in the twenty first century. Not all America is quite as observant as those at sites like this.

Isn't Van Gordon Sauter the bow-tied liberal clown to whom Kathleen Brown [Rice], ex-California Gov. Jerry Brown's sister, was married?

I think Heyward will "resign to spend more time with his family" at the appropriate time. But Moonves is too busy a guy to have individual producers reporting directly to him. He's already fired everybody else between him and the grunts, so he needs Heyward to stay there until they can re-populate the place.

Personally, I think that's a mistake if Heyward is in fact not going to remain; new people coming in have a right to know who their boss is going to be... that's a big part of choosing a job. But maybe the "new team" is being assembled off to the side, and everybody will flip at once, including Rather. If they have to buy people out of contracts at other places in order to get them, March is not an unreasonable timeframe for making the switch. It takes time to "paper" all the contracts and deals.

Okay. I must be one of the slower Freepers around here.

What the heck is that supposed to mean?

Hot dog or weiner, can't tell what the middle pic is, and a fence post.

Hmmmmmm.......

Please don't keep me guessing because my husband keeps wondering why I keep saying 'weiner, hot dog, what?' here in the 'puter room. (:
