I got an email saying the same thing. It was VERY authentic looking but it was filed in the digital round file cabinet :-)

Here's an interesting site that tracks "phishing" scams...
http://www.antiphishing.org They've archived a number of similar scams and their payloads.

I just heard a story on the news that talked about this and another scam aimed at CitiBank cardholders. They then went on to explain that there's another mass-mailing that isn't a scam, but reasonable & prudent folks would believe otherwise.
It seems that CitiBank sent out some mailing to their cardholders indicating that their interest rate would be going up unless they responded to the mailing. The real kicker is that there is no indication of whom the letter came from. CitiBank says their corporate information was "mistakenly" omitted.
No word of a new mailing to correct their "mistake."

I got one too, and reported it to aol as a scam...

I was immediately suspect because I'm not a citibank customer :)

3 out of the first 13 words were spelled wrong. How can you think this was legit?

hehe... well perhaps these folks count on people being busy enough not to notice? I don't even have an account so they messed up :-) (btw, I didn't notice the mispelled words)

I wasn't one either, so it gave me a heads up. However it was a poorly done scam too.

Well I want to know that I reived an email from Charles Taylor's cousin asking me to help him out with a little change. Should I? LOL
