I once had the pleasure of attending a pro-life conference and meeting Dr. Richard Dorflinger of the USCCB, Wesley Smith, Esq., Dr. Angela Lanfranchi of the bcp institute and representatives of Priests For Life, where the focus of the talks were about embryonic stem cell research, cloning and the breast cancer link to abortion.  It was very informative and among the many lectures and talks topics such as In-Vitro Fertilization came up since this is from where the embryonic stem cells come. What was said was that when a couple, single female or a lesbian enters a fertility clinic for IVF up to 24 embryos are fertilized and created and in most instances the procedures fail leaving human life to be frozen, experimented with and killed.    When I head this, Brooke Shields came to mind since I remember reading about her 7 attempts to conceive, it's not hard to do the math, she created and killed 140 of her children and 140 of her daughter Rowan's siblings.

The more our culture blindly accepts killing, organ harvesting and treating other human beings as mere property, the further we slide into moral relativism, and it will be very difficult for us some day to make the argument that our own killers should respect our human dignity.

We wonder why we have  the Terri Schiavo atrocity, Dr. Kevorkian, eugenics,  population control, babies found dead in trash cans and the other atrocities found throughout the world.

I pray to God that nobody is judged by this rigid a standard when the time comes. If so, no person on earth will be saved.

These abbreviated articles really bum me out. Just when you think it's going to get good . . . . . . it ends.

LIfe is LIFE no matter the size of development. The lives of the innocent must always be protected.

Thanks for speaking for those who can't speak for themselves.

Coleus, I too applaud your speaking on behalf of the unborn. The vicious attacks generated by your post on a conservative website are astounding and far out of proportion to the topic.

KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK! AND GOD BLESS YOU!!

You give numbers that are fabricated. You have no way of knowing whether one oocyte or 24 were harvested each time, and you have no way of knowing how many embryos were fertilized. There is absolutely no way of knowing whether any embryos were frozen. I wish you had not made this personal and that you had not accused anyone of killing.

I appreciate the work that the Catholic Church has done for the prolife effort, but for every help (and the men you name have been incredibly helpful. I was privileged to hear Dr Dorflinger at the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity conference last week), there is a hindrance such as this. What a shame we can't agree on not taking life. I remember the debates breaking down in the early 70's when we had so much to gain if we had been able to stick together in opposing abortion --- and we lost.

Stick with stories like last week's story from the NYTimes to teach. Or pick your audience with more care.

Very good. A lot of people won't understand the reasoning though, spiritual blindness is the main hindrance for them. If you don't believe life begins at conception none of it will make sense.

The attacks on your reasoning prove once again that the faults that people complain about in others are usually their own.

Keep up the good work!
