A NEW SCI FI NOVEL...BY A FREEPER
The Sith Order ^ | July 26, 2005 | Mad Ivan

Posted on 07/25/2005 4:46:50 PM PDT by MadIvan

I'm pleased to announced that I've just finished writing the first draft of my new Sci Fi novel, "I, Palpatine". This novel covers the biography of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars (for those who haven't seen the film, he's the really nasty piece of work).

One can either read the story in pieces on SithOrder.Com or get a more complete manuscript (with some corrections) by mailing me privately; I am doing this to keep track of to whom I send these manuscripts.

Feedback from the most intelligent and discerning audience on the web is most appreciated.

I, too finished a novel, a couple of years ago now. It has been copyrighted. Mine is NOT based on a fictional character like Star wars, or any other such Sci-Fi, but instead, is based on a situation ,in which a group of terrorists are able to get control of a just-slightly fictional Space-defense system(IOW, something that is NOT possible... just YET..),and turn it to their advantage, to hold the Planet hostage, demanding nuclear disarmament of the superpowers. Things do not go the terrorists way, and the countdown to a Nuclear doomsday begins, controlled by an all-seeing,all-knowing, impregnable computer, called Omni-one.

You might say, my novel is a little bit of James Bond, a little bit of Armegeddon, a little bit of Independence Day, and a little bit of "Special Bulletin"(Anyone but me remember THAT one,the tv-movie, from '83), with a bit of Touched by an Angel, holding it all together.I have spoken a little about it before, and it is called "Final Countdown".

I,too am in need of a publisher. As of yet, I have found none(EXCEPT for "vanity" type publishers, which would cost me a lot of money, which I do NOT have).

They also seem to give wide berth to testing their software before shipment.

(My Lego Star Wars keeps locking up on my Xbox!!)

Congrats, Ivan!

a group epic..sounds like fun and interesting, letting the story, play out in the minds of fellow Freepers...w/such inputs, creating a much broader/richer epic...experience. :D

thank you, for the invite. :)

Congratulations, Ivan!
It's tough finishing a novel, let alone getting it into print.
My first novel, a "sci fi adventure" (kind of "James Bond in space") comes out in September, so I know how excited you must be - and how glad to have it finished!

I don't have an agent either, but if I find one I'll let you know. I'd love it if you (or any other Freeper!) would do likewise.

Cheers
Jim

You have my congratulations on writing a novel. Some talk and some do. You did. That's great! :) I would be glad to buy your book and hopefully get your autograph..
By the way...your statement regarding Palpatine: " he's the really nasty piece of work)." He was just misunderstood. Here we have a poor selfless man just trying to bring order to the galaxy and everyone razzes him for it. The man doesn't get any respect.
Palpatine for president in '08!!

A friend referred me to these guys. I can't personally vouch for them, but he did.

Wow MadIvan, great!

I've got four novels out myself, and two more appearing this year. I've worked with an editor at Del Rey and I believe he handles some Star Wars novels. Let me know if you want my help.

Are you going to WorldCon in Scotland?

Say, Ivan, do you know where else I can find your book? SithOrder.Com’s been merged with TheForce.net, so I obviously can’t get it from there.
