Conservatives, embittered by the election debacle, are on the internet in force threatening jihad on BHO over the apparent defects in his citizenship. For them, it is payback time. For eight years, the American Left wrongfully undermined President Bush by arguing ad nauseum that he stole the 2000 election. They hurt the party by doing so, and conservatives who undermine the legitimacy of BHOs election will end up hurting the nation.

Many of my fellow conservatives have vowed to dig in and in effect use the issue of BHOs citizenship as a weapon in the same way the Left used Palm Beach County 2000 as a weapon. The legal issue is moot. Our website took heat for arguing that the issue was moot, and some of the response was vile. Conservatives should be better than that. We should not endanger the nation by undermining the very legitimacy of BHOs election.
If any conservative has a reason to complain it is Sarah Palin. She campaigned like a trooper for ten weeks. The Palin family gave conservatives everything that it had. Sarah Palin has moved on. She has indicated that she will put her personal and political feelings aside and work with BHO to the extent possible on projects that will benefit her constituents and the nation. (The Trans-Canada Natural Gas Pipeline, for instance) Indeed, Governor Palin will meet with BHO tomorrow to discuss the project.
We need to get off of the citizenship issue. The legal issue is moot. There is no way on Earth that the Supreme Court will rule that he can not take office.
Harping on the citizenship issue does not re-build the grassroots network. It does not achieve anything. Whining about Palm Beach County did not do a thing for the Dems. They didnt succeed in 2002 or 2004. They only succeeded in 2006 and 2008 after they re-built their grass-roots and focused on fundamentals.
Respect for the Constitution is moot?

Yeah screw that pesky constitution. It just gets in the way of politics.
“We should not endanger the nation by undermining the very legitimacy of BHOs election.”
Get lost. You’re no conservative.
Why dont we let the SCOTUS decide the case before the media pundits decide it is moot.
When the case is decided, the chips will fall where they may. Until then, I am sick of hearing amateurs tell us it is moot or has no merit.
Let the Court decide. It won’t be too much longer.
Just what we need.....

Apparently
okay, that’s October, not November (yesterday). Premature Zot siting.
Back to Paris with you, please.
Go Away, Charlie
More recently, it seems that the ‘me’ generation tag should be applied to those conservatives that cannot live with the election results.
Barack Hussein Obama should simply show that he meets the constitutiponal requirement. If he cannot or will not, he should be investigated by the court to prove that he meets the requirements of the very document he is going to swear to uphold.
Otherwise, we have no constitutional republic.
It should be relatively simple to establish, but Obama and his campaign have consistently ignored, lied, and decieved on this and numerous other issues.
THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA'S UPBRINGING
A link to said argument would be helpful
I hope this a*shat does not really represent Sarah Palin. He has no clue what he is talking about. If Sarah thinks the same thing then I have no use for her too.
Sorry - we are “too good” to stand up for The Constitution. I have a lot of faith in Leo Donofrio, Scalia, Alito, Thomas, Roberts and hopefully Kennedy. I think The Constitution means a lot to all of them as well.
“There is no way on Earth that the Supreme Court will rule that he can not take office.”
*My* magic 8-ball says, “Try Again Later”.
Total agreement....no way, no stretch of the imagination, this would ever happen.
I wrote this on another thread, and it is just as relevant here:
It was suggested that a citizens, we are “obliged” to honor the majority choice as President elect.
We are not obliged to honor their choice. If Barack Obama is not a citizen as outlined in the US Constitution, then he should not be allowed to assume office.
That requirement is found in the Constitution of the United States, Article II, Section 1, Clause 5: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
The founders put that stipulation in there for a REASON. A specific reason. A GOOD reason, one that is just as relevant today as it was back in 1787.
If the population of this nation decides there is a valid reason to allow foreigners to run for the office of the Presidency, then the founders, in their wisdom, included a mechanism within the Constitution to change the document.
The mechanism sets a bar of difficulty that is high, but there is a reason for that as well. We WANT the document to be difficult to change, so that if a change is proposed, there will be debate to ensure it is appropriate.
It was designed specifically this way to prevent any tin pot dictator or politician from proposing and enacting changes due to a hue and cry of the moment to a document which was very well thought out.
If anyone thinks that we, as a country, can disregard both the Constitution, and the mechanism included in it to make changes to the document, then the entire document may be disregarded as the situation dictates. If that is true, we are finished as a Republic.
