Ford Motor Company, the only Detroit automaker not currently digging in taxpayer pockets, posted a $14.6 Billion loss for 2008, its largest loss ever, and is buckling down for a tough 2009.
Unlike its competitors GM and Chrysler, both of which are right now suckling at the teat of nanny government, Ford has chosen to try and remain independent while competing against their own tax dollars in the form of government bailout money given to their competitors.

The next car (and truck) I buy will be a Ford, as long as they stay away from the Porkulas stimulus.
Good to see Ford attempt to go it alone without gub'mint help!
They are trying to navigate through very tough economic times. I give this great corporation and its management team and workers credit.
ROFL!
You must be a chevy man...green with envy. Suck it up chevy boy. Take it like a man.
Good for Ford for showing some backbone.
Actually, most of the Arabs (from Dearborn, MI) employed by Ford have been Christians (mostly Lebanese). They were the early wave of immigrants that worked in factories across Detroit. The latter wave of Arab immigrants are Muslims, however, they largely migrated after the boom time when factories were still hiring.
Employing Muslims is wrong but the old man was an anti-semite? Sounds like they are employing people the old man would have been against. Semites are people who descended from Shem, one of Noah's three sons. The line continues through to Abraham and his sons Isaac and Ishmael. Most Muslims and Jews claim descent from Abraham so both groups are Semites.
I’m in the market for a new half ton 4-door. I like the looks of the Dodge the best, but have had good experience with Ford and Chevy trucks. I drove a Toyota Tundra as a rental & liked it.
It’s down to Toyota and Ford at this point.
I have to say that this decision alone has made me consider buying only Ford products.
Hindsight is going to show that they’re going to be the only one free from the government interference and the only one that will survive intact.
I fully expect brands of GM to be eliminated, Chrysler/Dodge to go buh bye and the south to become flush with even more German and Japanese manufacturing plants that will never be unionized.
