We've heard about many people that have lost everything because of the "economic meltdown", but they've all been general citizen types, the rich, the middle and others .. but ...

"What made you think that was true? "

Over the years here in FR, that seems to be the consensus.

Something about being (born in '48) ... a notch baby.

"But I'm at the point of I don't give a $h!t now."

I pray I never reach that point. I isn't just about you and me. But let's look at the enemy. A bat eared turd that is so far over his head he is not smart enough to realize it. If that is what you fear my guess is you whistle past graveyards.

When you were born is not the issue. What you do with the rest of your life is.

You knew you were steeling [sic] from your grand-children.

And here, I thought I was paying for my grandparents--since I was 14--and I'm a great-grandpa now (still working).

>> a LEO from elsewhere who would tend to disarm citizens... is more likely to do so without compunction [when brought in from another locale]

Arguably true, but this tactic cuts both ways. I’d like to see a bunch of diversity-school-graduate cops from Philly (or even Houston) grab the guns of a band of rural Central Texas ranchers. Particularly at night. The local sheriff might know what to do, how and where to approach, and in any case his homeboys might not cooperate but they wouldn’t harm him. OTOH he Philly smartass LEO might be found in the morning tied to a tree with his genitals sewn inside his mouth.

SS will be reduced by the coming monetization of the Federal debt. Similar to thye Zimbabwe situation. The Obamabuck will be worthless. Plan for survival by buying now essential supplies.

Youth is wasted on the young. Just a joke everyone.

I’m 60 and I never believed Social Security for a minute — well, for a minute of my adult life. Politicians can’t handle money, and they don’t get rewarded for probity and prudence.

One if the reasons I voted to keep our cops local. Unfortunately we lost them and now we have to rely on the county managing to make it out here eventually. I don't think I've seen a cop car (in town) since.

The penalties and intrest will not keep up with the devaluation of the dollar when they monetize the debt. Cheap loans. Max out the w-4 and pay it back with totally worthless dollars.

They get their rewards from theft and corruption. We can all see this.

I should stop drinking now.

I own my home and land, armed, provisioned and all that stuff.

I was layed off the day after the election and I don't know if I'll get back again (CDL truck driver, no otr ... widower w/2 minor children) ... plenty of younger guys with less medical expectations, etc.

What I mean is .. I'm pretty well OK for now, no retirement (401 .. it disappeared) .. and I had always thought SS would be there anyway.

And there IS a reality to knowing and accepting ones own mortality.

That is something I know great deal about. But you are still alive. Act like it.

When I was a peace officer (I refused to call myself an LEO) I pondered this during the Clinton years. I could not have imagined abondoning principal to save my paycheck or retirement I don’t know how many others would feel the same way these days.

I don’t think you should recommend this to people without telling them that it could cost them a lot of money in penalties and interest. If you do not have enough money withheld, they can and will assess a hefty financial penalty.

Why worry about paying up unless you think "The One" will nominate you for a cabinet post?
