The Problem With The Left

After observing an especially ugly exchange on Twitter between a friend and a leftist troll, I began to wonder why the left is so damn angry. I’m not a doctor, but I believe I can diagnose their condition as, a complete lack of creativity due to reduced cognitive function. For the left, big government is the solution to every problem. People are poor? More big government. Some people don’t have health insurance? More big government. A company is failing? More big government. A financial crisis that is rooted in failed government policy? MORE BIG GOVERNMENT!!!

I've known a number of Leftists who consider Conservatives to be "single issue voters" because we are passionate about this or that. For some, it's abortion. For others, Second Amendment rights. Or taxes. Or immigration. The thing is, as individuals we may appear to be single issue voters (and I think even that is unfair) but as a conservative community, we are not monolithic: we see many issues and each requires it's own sort of solution. We are nuanced and diverse.

The Left, on the other hand, sees everything in the world as a problem and sees the hammer of Big Government as the only tool in the toolbox.

Back when medicine was primitive, doctors would drain blood for patient to cure his sickness. The poor guy was probably anemic in the first place. In turn we are a nation made sick by a sprawling government and were are going to be cured by more government.

I suppose the upside is that we will die with clean pockets.

Not sure that’s a fair assessment. I have many friends and family members who lean to the left, and to call them dumb would be a ridiculous statement. However, if I were to hazard a guess as to why they’re angry, I’d say it’s because they know their closely-associated party is doing everything wrong. But to voice their concerns would mean we right-wing ‘kooks’ are correct, and that dog just won’t hunt.

So dumb? No.

Stubborn to the point where it can be construed as absolutely clueless? Absolutely.

The Problem With The Left:( and I deal with many daily)

1) There anger at anything conservative is just a projection of the anger they have for themselves.

2) They are VERY insecure.

3) Most want the government to take care of THEM, hence their rants on government helping “society’.

4) The left wants all the rights and rewards of freedom and none of the risks that are involved with liberty.

5) They worship all things associated with the STATE and frown on those who do not.

I have met many leftists, and many are glib, but it's easy to be glib when you are lying, They are all stupid or dishonest, at some very fundamental level.

I concur. Stupid or dishonest. Some are so blind to the realities of the world around them due to an unwavering devotion to ideological delusions of utopian grandeur.

If you read Lyle H. Rossiter's book titled "The Liberal Mind, The Psychological Causes of Political Madness" you find that all of these leftist/collectivist suffer from an intense hatred of themselves which was brought on by either an abusive father, or abandonment by their fathers. They look to government to fill the void in their lives caused by this trauma; a substitute father.

You can make a list of them, Marx, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, etc. and see that they were either forced out of their family by, or simply didn't know, their fathers.

When they see someone who they think isn't suffering from the same psychosis, they simply go berserk and are capable of unspeakable cruelty. Their pain is so deeply ingrained into their psyche that they view anyone who doesn't show the same symptoms as being a charlatan, very deserving of their hate because they are blocking the road to the substitute father - the government.

Regardless of what Bush actually did, they hated him because he had a mother and father, with whom he seemed to have a somewhat normal relationship. He couldn't possibly know what the real issues were, the things in their lives that caused so much pain. That's why they worked so hard to brand him as an alcoholic and derelict of his military duty.

Yeah, but that’s dumb! Refusal to admit that one is wrong and to insist on doing the wrong thing just so that one doesn’t look bad is itself a very stupid act. So ultimately they ARE stupid.

The problem with that is that I know several of fanatic liberals who did have fathers. Even very conservative reliable fathers. And I have known conservatives who were abandoned as children So, I don’t think one can draw such a broad conclusion.

I agree with your conclusion. However, in my defense, I was attempting to quickly summarize the contents of Dr. Rossiter's book in a few words. I know there are exceptions, but I believe the general trend supports Dr. Rossiter's findings.
