It is absolutely idiotic to claim that the birth announcements serve as proof of anything regarding settling an issue of Constitutional eligibility. Besides the fact that it does not address at all the fact that Obama’s father was not an American citizen and thus Barry was not a natural born citizen.

I cant say with 100% certainty where BO was born. But I do know that the birth issue makes us look like conspiracy kooks. For now, lets stick to tea party principles. Smaller gov, less spending, the constitution. Then, once conservatives are elected to office we can turn them loose to investigate.

A series of 2008 security breaches at the US State Department may indicate that someone knows Barack Obama’s true status as a natural born citizen - and is waiting for the right time to reveal it. The breaches, which occurred on January 9, February 21 and March 14 of 2008, were done by two “low level” contractors and another in a mid-level position with no management role.

Barack Obama’s passport files,” the statement from Biden read. “Firing or disciplining those responsible is an important first step. But we need to understand why these employees had access to this information in the first place, why they sought the information, and why it took over two months for this matter to come to light. I urge the Secretary of State to promptly refer this matter to the State Department Inspector General for investigation.”
... On April 5, 2008, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Passport Services Ann Barrett resigned from her post after a credit card scheme using US passport date was uncovered by the security probe. State Department Spokesman Tom Casey told The Washington Times that 24-year-old Lieutenant Quarles Harris Jr. told federal authorities he obtained “passport information from a co-conspirator who works for the U.S. Department of State.”

From The Washington Times report:
The investigation began after Metropolitan Police on March 25 pulled over Mr. Harris in Southeast on suspicion that the windows of his vehicle were tinted too darkly.
After searching Mr. Harris and his vehicle, police found marijuana and 21 credit cards that were not issued in his name or the name of a female passenger with him. Police also found eight printouts of State Department passport applications, and four of the names on the applications matched four of the credit cards.
Upon questioning by agents from the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Postal Service and State Department, Mr. Harris “admitted he obtained the passport information” from a State Department employee, court documents say.

Mr. Harris also said the fraud ring submitted credit-card applications using the names and “identifying information” of the persons listed on the passport applications, and that a postal service employee then would intercept the cards before they were delivered to the appropriate residences.
Then, on April 17, 2008, Lt. Harris was found fatally shot dead slumped over the steering wheel of his car in front of the Judah House Praise Baptist Church in Northeast DC."

Cmdr. Anzallo said a police officer was patrolling the neighborhood when gunshots were heard, then Lt. Harris was found dead inside the vehicle, which investigators would describe only as a blue car."

I read somewhere that obama myface account has him listed as being born in 1957. if that’s true then the 1961 newspaper birth announcement for obama was a forgery.

It’s an issue which needs to be finessed carefully. Some months ago, a goodly portion of Southerners were not sure Bummer was born in the USA. The Rats would like to split these people off into parties like the Constitution or Libertarian parties, giving the Rats an extra oomph in the elections over the GOP.

I think it is just wasted effort to mine the birth certificate issue, and have always thought so.

The best thing to do is to pass legislation that from now on, to require certified proof of citizenship of all candidates for all offices to be placed on the ballot in any state.

I agree. He is hiding in plain sight. Proudly stating his father is a Kenyan citizen. I was taught that in order to be Prez one MUST have 2 parents who were U.S. citizens...you could be born on the moon but still be kosher IF that requirement was met.
I think those birth announcements were legit. But I still don’t get why the address ain’t right.

Thank you for posting this. I had no idea that the birth certificate brou-ha-ha was started by the PUMAs. It does cast a different light on the issue for me.

As far as the whole birth certificate controversy, I sometimes wonder if conservatives are being set up to look very very foolish one day. The president and his advisers are not to be trusted - and this is the very type of issue that could color all conservatives with the same brush of kookiness.

Yes, the president could make the whole thing go away by releasing the long form. But I remember a time when Gov. Palin was being asked to release her medical records to prove Trig’s parentage - and she refused, rightly so. To me, this birth certificate falls in the same category. Why doesn't he release it? Well, maybe because he chooses to not release it and a perverse part of him is enjoying watching the opposition boil and waste their time on this issue rather than the real issues.

I can't stand the man to the point I refuse to say or write his name, but I just don't see an issue. Like it or not, he's American born. And quite frankly, I very worried about this becoming a Litmus Test for conservatives - as in, if you aren't a birther, you're not a true conservative.

Something about this whole thing feels like a set-up to divide the opposition and get us at each other’s throats over an issue than cannot be proven. If the long form came out today, there are so many kooks out there who would claim it's a forgery the movement would never stop.

He's an American - get over it and move on to what's really important before we become so fragmented, the tearing apart of the Conservatives leads to 4 extra years of him.

Exactly, and it should not taint the Tea Party. If that happens, it brings into question the legitimacy of the tea party movement and other issues.

You're absolutely right. I believe that many, if not most, of us know the truth. The fact is though that this argument, with the passage of time, has become moot and is very unlikely to ever bear fruit. In fact, in that the disdain and disregard for the Constitution is so rampant in this country (and especially among progressives) it could never have become a viable issue in the very beginning. I look forward to the day when the Constitution, once again, becomes the law of the land.
