The American Thinker ^ | April 10, 2010 | Stella Paul

America's triumph in space is the greatest achievement of the 20th century. So it makes perverted sense for Obama to destroy our pride in this matchless accomplishment and stage our humiliation before the world.

Man, we're just surrendering to everyone. Did 0 find any Martians to bow to before surrendering space?

Good photoshoppers could post 0 bowing to Marvin the Martian and maybe Mork from Ork.

The Mule Train has won the day. If this writer does not know of the mule train she should research it.

We did away with our Space program and now will pay Russia 55 million dollars for a taxi ride to the Space Station.

To be fair, its not just Obama who squandered the legacy of Apollo. The Space Shuttle, in retrospect, was an expensive ticket to nowhere. Previously presidents merely allowed NASA to make expensive mistakes. Obama is deliberately destroying what is left of NASA. The Muslim Marxist is intent on destroying whatever remains of our national pride and prestige, and turning us into a third world country. Gutting NASA is part of that strategy.

That decision was made over six years ago, by George Bush.

If we "did away with our Space program," how is it we have a Space Station to need a ride to?

The Apollo 13 40th anniversary should be remembered for what it was. A triumph of US ingenuity. A shorted wire due to an inappropriate maintenance test was the fault. The successful return of the crew was Plain and Simple.

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!

Today our government is failing us. We are saving fish and birds and other meaningless stimulaing junk.

If we return to the Moon As Senator/Astronaut Harrison Schmidt has proposed in his book Return to the Moon, we would encourage a new generation of math and science learning, Produce Alternative energy on the moon for Earth use, and continue our Trek to the Stars, (thank you Gene Roddenberry).

OBlahblah is all talk no Action.

And if BO was a true man of vision, he would UNDO a bad decision. But BO is a one-worlder global government type like GWB and his daddy were.

The decision to end Shuttle can’t be “undone.” There are only three orbiters left, and the productions lines for parts like the ET were shut down two years ago. They can’t keep flying at this point, even if they wanted to. At best, they could restart it in a couple years, at a cost of billions. We need to move on to something better.

You’re right. The shuttle is old (1970’s/80’s) technology. Even with upgrades to things like the onboard computers, its major components must be getting out of date.
