The Palin Factor: Even Republican Elites Don't Get It
American Thinker ^ | 11-26-10 | Lance Fairchok

Posted on 11/26/2010 4:13:31 AM PST by radioone

We all know the left hate Sarah Palin with a passion surpassed only by their loathing for Rush Limbaugh. The list of leftist political, media, and cultural figures who have insulted, smeared, misrepresented, and concocted hit jobs against her is long and varied. With predictable hypocrisy and lack of human decency, they also went after her children, a new trendsetting low for the talking heads America is rapidly coming to despise.

Where does one get “gravitas”? I don’t think she can do this between now and 2012. Who has this magical political property anyway? Obama doesn’t have it in my opinion. He has a style that some people liked last election, but real depth and experience he doesn’t have at all, and to me that is what this word should mean.

Joe Biden have it? Hucklebee? Name one possible candidate that ranks higher than Palin?

Anyway, Palin has popularity because what you see is who she is. I think the independent middle will see that Obama’s ignorance and inexperience is a disaster. Sarah will be painted with the same brush by her opponents and that’s her biggest problem.

My wife loves her because of her views and life story, but cannot stand her voice. She says she would be great if she just shuts up... Kinda like the Rush quotes on Hillary having a screeching voice....

” ... I can’t see Sarah Palin debating an Eric Holder or Hillary Clinton and winning ... “

I disagree. She can debate, and she can win debates. Go back and look at the YouTube recording of her debates when she ran for Governor of Alaska.
The establishment made the same assumption, and where thoroughly whooped by her in the debates!

My wife is getting the same way.

The Alaska reality show was a real turning point. The first week to me was disappointing. The second week was simply aggrivating. My wife had the controls and would fast forward all of the Palin reality show parts. But even the outdoor parts got to be too much for my wife. She said to the TV while Sarah was talking “Would you just shut up!!!!!”

With all due respect.

Careful. On FR, you cannot make even any constructive criticisms of Palin. I'm repeatedly torched for saying she is a celebrity but not yet a candidate. There is a difference. Now, maybe we are at the point in our political history where you can WIN just by being a celebrity, but I hear the same comments from all sorts of people (mostly conservatives, mostly Republicans as earlJam.

Some Freepers think every one of these people is just a "leftie" and "we don't need 'em." Well, I got news for people: these are mainstream Republican voters and not all are sold on Palin. We KNOW the left hates her---time to get over that and ask, "why is she having such a hard time, with all her celebrity, book deals, and let's face it, money, connecting with a large part of the conservative base?"

First by ‘public persona’ I am referring purely to an imaging quality,

In that light, overlooking the reality of the person, but only the perception in the mass media that Gingrich, Daniels and Christi have more perceived ‘Gravitas’.

Recall the Palin-Biden debate. Why do you think the libs hate/fear her so much?

She’s not going to be able to to “as shucks pull yourself up by your boot straps mama grizzly you betcha “ her way into the White House.

We as conservatives were furious two yeas ago as America was getting ready to elect a media star with limited experience for president.

Yet now people on our side are saying “She’s at least as smart as Obama.”

When President Palin gets sworn in, are you going to commit suicide?

Yep!

I am a Palin supporter (though not to the exclusion of other attractive candidates), but believe she has MUCH work to do if she wants to establish a broad national following and win.

I want her to win if she ends up being the candidate. If her adoring fans cannot accept the fact that she needs to constantly improve and grow to win the presidency, eff 'em.

As you know well, winning the presidency in 2012 is much more important than just being in love with your favorite candidate. If Obama wins another term, the damage may be irreparable.

Tell me one person with gravitas who would agree to be her number two on the ticket?

“I can’t see Sarah Palin debating an Eric Holder or Hillary Clinton and winning.”

That depends on what the definition of “win” is!

As an additional point, you may remember that Maggie Thatcher hired a National Theatre voice coach to perfect her delivery...and that made all difference.

I have been screaming from the roof tops that Palin needs to do the same! If it's good enough for Maggie, it's good enough for Sarah!
