In a recent interview with Sundays Meet The Press Senator Reid, (D, NV), said the following

SENATOR HARRY REID: The Tea Party was born because of the economy. The economy is probably the worst it's ever been except for maybe the Great Depression. The Tea Party will disappear as soon as the economy gets better and the economy is getting better all the time.

In light of the Senators statement a review of the brief but astonishing history of the Tea Party and subsequent political events may provide a more critical analysis of the future of the Tea Party......

The Tea Party is the antithesis to the radical socialists' thesis (a little Karl Marx lingo for you there).

It ain't going away unless they do.

When we’re done with the RINOs we will still have the overt leftists to deal with.

The Tea Party is here to stay.

God Bless the Tea Party.

Go away? I live in CT and we are one of the very few states which stayed the liberal course. Of course there was a lot of corruption which was swept under the rug in one day when it deserved to put people in jail but however they managed it, they succeeded. I have been active in a couple of tea party and 912 groups and I can tell you that far from going away, my study group has increased in size and we will soon need to meet in a different place because of that. We have at least 40 people meeting every two weeks. In CT this is huge!

The tea party was formed beacause of the GOVERNMENT. Once the GOVERNMENT dissolves back to its constitutional levels, the tea party will go away.

If Harry wants the tea party to go away he can cover his eyes and ears and hum to himself really loud and to him we will have gone away.

Other than that, phuck you Harry. We are going to be here longer than you will be.

Reid seems to believe that the TEA party is driven by economics.

No Se. Reid, it is driven by people who respect the Constitution and expect the government to respect the limits that it imposes on government.

I am in a period of evaluation. Frankly, I’m quite pleased with the new members of the House, so far. I will be taking names.

I’m with you. Didn’t President Jefferson say a little revolution every now and again is good for a republic (or words to that effect)?

If Reid really believes that then I predict he will be sadly disappointed when it doesn’t.

Will The Tea Party Disappear?

About a year ago there was a thread about whether the TEA party was doomed due to lack of "leadership". FReeper ThePatriotsFlag put it best:

Something special is happening with the Tea Party Movement of today. Of course people will try to gain control of it because it is a very powerful source of energy. But the concern that it is “not controlled” and therefore “doomed” is unfounded. It needs not be nor should it be confined ... to a leader, to an organization or to a specific plan. Such activity would nullify the greatness of what it has become to date and could grow to in the future. One needn’t worry ... one only need to join the energy, shun people who attempt its control and allow plans to be spur of the moment. With a leader, there is a target, with an organization, a counter-organization, with a plan, a thwarting of the plan. But as pure ENERGY ... nothing can stop it. Think of it is energy ... join it, and be a part of this historical change-making effort.

So long as we stay away from asll these self proclaimed "leaders" of the movement it will continue.

I believe that the Tea Party began in 1997 or was it 96, when Jim Robinson said, “I’m not taking anymore” and started Free Republic. As long as there is a Free Republic there will be a Tea Party.
